“Great for the novelty”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2013

I visited this restaurant recently. It has a very old-school 80's concept to it. It was nice to be dining here soaking up the atmosphere taking photos here and there. Found the food a bit pricey though. During the early part hours 11 am -2pm , they sell stir fry dishes around NT$150-$200 There are also dim sum items but never tried. After 2pm I believe they sell set meals. Its worth taking a visit while in taichung.

“Bring back fond memories of my childhood. Very nice food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2012

After traveling for almost 10hours (overnight flight + waited for Airport Telco to open + 2 hours bus ride from TaoYuan Airport to TaiChung + check-in hotel), it was so nice to finally sit down for a nice cosy lunch at 香蕉新樂園茶飯館.

We loved the old train cabin that was parked just outside the restaurant. Our kids were quite thrilled to run through the cabin & giggled when they spotted the "toilet". When we enter the restaurant, it was as if we have just traveled back in time to the 50-60s'. When the menu came, it was an old school text book - very cool! You can see it at their website http://www.vernaldew.com.tw/ .

While waiting for our food to be served, we took the opportunity to explain to our kids about how life was like during their grandparents' days & shared about our childhood memories. It was really a wonderful family bonding time. We also took lots of photos with the props around the restaurant.

Highly recommended!

“Love this place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2012

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Taichung.

The whole place is decorated to look like old Taichung, completed with an old train and theater posters. Awesome for picture taking.

Food is good and cheap.

Gets pretty busy on weekends so call ahead and reserve a table for your party.

“Interesting Place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2012

Almost all of the furniture are from old Taichung around 50-80 years ago, reflecting the old era of Taichung. Can have drink, food, coffee here-taking pictures here are most interesting. Can have a look of the old movie theater in Taichung-all of the stones are replaced to here.
