I asked for a 3-person dorm on the fourth floor, and paid 50 NTD more than the usual price, which is 300 NTD for a bed, then it became my private room.
Cleanliness: the fourth floor looks like a haunted place at the first glance, later I find out the whole layer has been used as a storeroom, my room is right in a small corner, the linen on the best is a little smelly, so require a new one when you decide to take the room.
Location: the location is very convinient, just take a No 88 bus from across the street of Taichung Railway Station, and get off at Chaoma station, then walk backwards(the opposite direction of which the bus runs) for two minutes, it's located right next to the Ho Shin Bus Station. However, there's almost no any sign that indicates there is a hostel, just walk into the second suncake shop next to the Ho Shin Bus Station. There are several buses at Chaoma station that can take you to nearly everywhere worth seeing in the city.
Rooms: I personnally recommend the private room, it might be the best bargain in Taichung, besides the safety can be assured.
Service: there's basically no any service, but the landlord lady is very nice and always be willing to offer help, when I asked her if I can have a map, she immediately gives one for me.(Oops, the map is not marked in details, so it's pretty hard to follow)
Value: I feel the suncake hostel is probably the best choice for budget trallers that can tolerate the sanitation(not too bad for me).
Sleep Quality: It's very quiet in the evening, even though it's just next to the Ho Shin bus station. I slept very tight.
