“A Sweet Lovely Place :)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 December 2013

For those who know the story of how the 2 ladies worked hard to set the lovely beautiful place, a visit to the place will definitely inspires and fascinate.

Loads of lovely nooks and crannies where you can enjoy amid colour and beauty. The flowers were awesome and of course, don't leave without buying the naturally scented lavender soaps in the retail shop...really fragrant !

The entry ticket comes with vouchers that you can redeem for ice cream or other snacks at the cafe. To really enjoy the place, here's a tip...don't rush and take your time.

“Must go when you in Taichung”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 December 2013 via mobile

Quite far from Taichung city...about 2hrs by car. We did not expect to stay there for about 4 hours. We had our lunch there, food is ok but the surrounding is very peaceful and relaxing. We spent some time walking around garden, my wife loves the lavender, sea of purple..lovely. She bought lots of lavender product from the shop. Great place to visit, especially with good weather.

“Top tips for visiting Sinshe lavender farm / Lavendar Cottage, Taichung, Sinshe”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2013

Tip 1: Entrance fee is 200NT but elderly visitors can enter for free. Tickets also include a 40NT free voucher which you can use at the gift shops or in the restaurant.

Tip 2: The cottage shuts at 6.30pm but it also depends on the weather forecast. If the weather is good, they will open until 7.30pm for fireflies-watching. If the weather is bad, they will shut at 6.30pm.

Tip 3: we arrived very late at the cottage so we didnt end up doing much. We went to the restaurant and had dinner. The food was very westernized. It was not suitable for old elderly chinese visitors. The price of the food is very expensive as well. Overall i would say that the food is very fresh and innovative but it won't be able to cater a lot of old elderly chinese visitors.

Tip 4: how to get there? This is such a huge problem if you are planning your trip from Taichung City.

Basically the only way to get to the front entrance of the cottage is by taxi.

From Taichung main railway station you have to catch the Fengyuan coach bus. Do not take the railway to Fengyuan because it will not help much with the distance. The coach bus will take you to 中興嶺. Before you arrive, ring Lavendar Cottage and they will give you a bunch of taxi cab numbers to call. The taxi company will arrange a taxi driver to pick you up at 中興嶺 and drive you to the cottage and one-way ride is 500NT. Also be sure to tell the taxi operator that you would like a driver who can drive safely. This is because the roads to the cottage are bendy mountaineous roads, you would not want anything unpleasant to happen to you. We got a reckless driver and nearly got caught in an accident twice.

Also bring some travel sickness pills if you cannot deal with bendy roads.

And when you get there, ask the taxi driver to wait for you until you finish the tour. And they can send you back but it would mean another 500NT dollar charge too.

Tip 5: enjoy the view of Lavender Cottage and have a cup of tea. They do Lavendar milk tea as well. The nicest thing about Lavendar Cottage is you can smell the lavendar everywhere you go.

Tip 6: They also gave us each a postcard to send to ourselves at the end of the fireflies tour. According to them, they will post the postcard to us by next March, we therefore put down our friend's home address in Taichung because we won't be going back to Taiwan for the next few years. The postcard allows the recipient a free entry to the Lavendar Cottage.

Tip 7: The fireflies tour is a must because they will bring you round the park and see all the fireflies. It is very suitable for families with young kids. Be sure to bring some clothes to cover your skin because there might be a lot of mosquitoes during hot summer night.

Tip 8: Overall the customer-service in Lavendar Cottage is pretty good. They really respect their customers and hope that their customers will enjoy their trip here. Highly recommend to everyone

One very interesting thing is the ladies toilet. There is not window covered or wall covered for the sitting cubicles. See pictures

“Excellent and peaceful place for relaxing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 May 2013

Its located quite far from town, but it definitely worth your visit :)

they have restaurants and cafe inside which you can sit there and relax the peacefulness of the place. the whole place is so peace and perfect for natural lovers.

You can see how attentive and thoughtful of the people who own the place. Even the toilet is so filled with fragrance and you just feel like staying there forever.

The staff over there are helpful as well. and they do have different programs every day for you to join in and enjoy your day there.

I really like and enjoy the place.

“excellent place to unwind and relax the whole mind”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2013

We hired a driver when we were in Taichung last week (3rd March) and we made this our last stop on our tour (see Carton king and Xinshe Castle). Be warned that this place is really out of the way and took quite long to reach. It is lovely to visit but I would seriously advice against staying here as it is VERY far from town. But it was WORTH it when we reach. As we were there around 3.15pm, the place was not so crowded. The whole place was in fog and it looks so mystical. There was a field with lavender flowers as well as some cafes and restaurant. Be advised there the whole place is on a hill so you will need to go up and down slopes to reach the lavender fields. Do buy and have the Lavender Ice Cream and Lavender Milk Tea. Lovely, use your coupon to offset the cost. Enjoy the scenery while sipping the hot, lovely tea. Haha. We stayed there till it grew dark and I think we are one of the last few to leave, Haha.. Really worth visiting if you like natural scenery and flowers, not for shoppers thou..
