As we were arriving on a 10.35 pm flight, we booked this hotel for an overnight stay before we start our tour of Taiwan. The hotel offers free shuttle buses from the airport but please be aware that the bus could get very full and leaves right on time. Check in was quite fast despite the queue from the bus. We were very pleased with the room as it was clean, spacious, modern and provides everything you need. Of course the highlight is the "magic" bathroom glass which turns opaque at the flick of a switch.

As we couldn't sleep, we took a tour of the hotel. There is a 24 hour gym which is very well equipped, complete with lockers, showers and towels. There is an indoor lap pool as well but it was closed so we couldn't get a clear look at it.

The next morning, we took the free shuttle bus to the high speed rail station which is about 15 minutes away. Again, the bus was quite full, so it is best to book a seat in advance.

Overall, we had a very good experience at the hotel. The staff, especially, the front desk was very courteous and helpful. Highly recommended.

I'm normally not too keen on Novatel hotels, I find them to be kind of skimpy and generally 'non-luxe', although they charge the same prices as higher end hotels.

But, this particular Novotel is a real gem, a really first-class property with lots to offer and (on the 9th floor, which is the business floor) really first-class rooms, well appointed and with all the amenities a guest could ever wish for.

There is a great buffet restaurant on the main floor. The staff are friendly and efficient. The price offers good value. The architecture and the decor in the 9th floor rooms is superb, in fact, one of the most attractive and functional hotel rooms I have ever stayed at.

For sure, I will return, and I recommend this hotel (specifically the 9th floor business club, which has its own lounge and free breakfast) highly.

Room Tip: Book into the Business Club on the 9th floor - the room design, amenities, and decor are all spectac...

My wife and I and two of our friends stayed at this hotel twice. Once on the way to Canada, and once on the way home. Our connecting flights were about 15 hours apart each time, so we booked into this hotel to have a rest, a hot shower and meals. What a find. We were upgraded to the Executive Floor on our first visit and had a lovely breakfast in the Executive Lounge with our eggs especially cooked by the Chef. We had a great lunch at the Chinese Restaurant in the hotel and we had a little nap and a hot shower also. Rooms are excellent, wonderfully clean with all amenities. We also had some nibbles and cocktails at night in the Executive Lounge (Free for those on the Executive Floor)
On our stop on the journey back home we had the buffet breakfast in the downstairs area. Fantastic. You name it, it was there. (All types of juices, a coffee machine and any tea you could name. Waffles, breads, cereals, fruit, yoghurt. Sausages, eggs, tomatoes, bacon and lots lots more, A variety of Chinese breakfast foods. Congee, miso soup, salads, pork buns and foods I have never seen or heard of before). After having a feast at breakfast we skipped lunch and had dinner at the Chinese Restaurant again. Staff as always were pleasant, charming and very helpful. Food was delicious. I had the Spicy Seafood Casserole in the Szeuchan style.(Magnificent!!) That only cost around AUD $10 and was full of prawns and scallops. Shuttle buses are free, and run frequently to and from the airport, about 10 minutes away. Wi-fi is fast and free. Reception staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, if you have a bit of time during flights in Taipei, this is definitely the place to stay.

The hotel was fine but trying to use this as an airport hotel between connections is a hassle. Better off staying in the onsite EVA hotel. On a recent trip from LA to Indonesia with a 10 hour stop we opted for Novotel as a place to get some rest, food etc. The process of getting through immigration at the airport, waiting for the shuttle (which was a disaster...this part of the service is abysmal and is the proverbial weak link...waiting 40 minutes for a shuttle?!) we barely had 6 hours to sleep since we had to get up and do it all over again (shuttle, boarding passes/checki-in, security etc.) It was pretty much a waste of effort and money. While the EVA Evergreen hotel onsite at the airport is sort of a dump the reality is you never have to leave the secured areas of the terminal to get there. so you just walk off your flight and check in to the hotel. Way easier. and cheaper. Bottom line: If you are choosing an airport hotel for just a place to sleep and get a shower on a long layover don't choose this hotel. You're better off sleeping in the terminal...

I stayed one night in this hotel in transit. It is a pretty new hotel. I believe that it is only a couple of years old and is well-maintained. It has a 25m indoor pool and good gym. The pool is separated with lane rope to separate serious swimmer and those who only wants to do water play. The staff is very friendly and very responsive to the request. The executive lounge offers great service but the buffet breakfast in the lobby is only so so. The wireless internet is free throughout the hotel, It also has a free shuttle service between the airport terminals to and from the hotel. I had an overall satisfactory experience during my stay. It is recommended if you have to stay over for the airport transit.
