As an attractive a hotel as I think I have stayed in. A beautiful main building with my favourite tree (Jacaranda) right next to it, which fortunately was in full flower as we were there.
It's a 20 min taxi journey to the main clock tower area of Arusha down a part paved, part gravel road. Make sure you have directions as the taxi drivers may not know where it is.
A lovely pool, albeit on the cool side, set in the middle of the lovely garden with comfortable sun loungers (we never had a problem getting them). The attractive cottages (we stayed in one of them, although I think you can stay in the main building too) are spread out around the garden, each with its own verandah and chairs.
The food was good and service excellent.
The hotel is run by a friendly British couple who have a refreshingly flexible approach to management. We needed to hang around on our last day as our flight from KIA was not till the evening; because our room was not occupied that evening they let us stay on in our room hours past the normal check out time with no problem at all.
The only reasons I have given it 4 rather than 5 stars is, one, the cost and two, the mattress. Despite having stayed in numerous 4 and 5 star hotels on 6 of the 7 continents, this was our most expensive hotel to date, but then this is Africa where the cost of many things would be considered eye watering elsewhere. Also, the mattress was of the foam variety and not overly comfortable. Still, I would unhesitatingly recommend this idyllic place to anyone who loves Africa.
