We stayed here before a safari with Roy Safari's, which owns the hotel and is next door. The service simply could not have been more friendly and responsive. They were even more so when we were camping for a few hours after a very long drive and before our trip to the airport -- offering a room to shower, etc.

The rooms are big, comfortable and quiet. The grounds are small but private, and the pool & bar in the back is especially relaxing -- and diverting, as the weavers fly back and forth building their pendulous nests.

The food is good and quite varied. The breakfast in particular has a huge selection.

We'd certainly stay there again.

A lovely colonial type hotel set in tropical gardens. Very friendly efficient staff lead by an awesome Manager who went the extra mile. The poolside bar was a great place to relax and our dinner in the restaurant was superb as was the buffet breakfast the following morning. would thoroughly recommend.

We were exhausted after a long plane flight and the bus trip into Arusha. We were greeted with pleasant smiles, a cold drink, and a snack. The check in was slow (the computer at the desk always seemed to be slow, but this is a developing nation). The rooms are very comfortable. The garden is a nice place to sit and relax. The food was good.

Room Tip: If you are using this hotel primarily as a rest stop before touring Tanzania, any of the rooms shou...

We started and ended our safari with this hotel. The staff were hospitable and greeted you with a beverage upon arrival. The rooms were clean and spacious. The entire hotel is westernized and the bathroom has a bathtub and shower - great water pressure too. The dining was delicious and convenient. There is also a pool that is well maintained. The hotel is located to where it is an easy 10 min walk into town.

Stayed overnight before our flight the next day, enjoyed the food and the rooms were very large. Bathtub and shower are very nice. Also has a clothes line in the bathroom which was very convenient. We went shopping at a craft place nearby and tanzanite experience. Great prices!

Overall, an amazing hotel. The staff and management are so helpful and make the place what it is. I would recommend this hotel very highly and it was the bar by which we measured all the other hotels on our trip. The manager, Anuj Sharma, was so helpful and accommodating. He really went out of his way to ensure we were well taken care of. THANKS!!

My daughter and I stayed at the African Tulip before our Kilimanjaro climb, after our Kilimanjaro climb and after our safari for a total of 4 nights. The entire staff was extremely kind and everyone had a smile on their face. Anuj, the manager, went above and beyond with his generosity and upgraded us to a suite on our final night, which was a nice ending to our first visit to Africa. The hotel is beautifully decorated, clean and safe. Coffee and tea in the rooms along with bottled water is a nice added feature as well as the buffet breakfast every morning. The lounge in the lobby is very relaxing as is the pool area in the rear of the hotel. I highly recommend staying at the African Tulip if you are ever in Arusha!!!

Room Tip: room 29 was very large with a window seat and sitting area room 11 was an extremely large 2 bedroom...
