Let's start of with the positive:
Location.

For the rest, the rooms are very very small, and there are close to no noise isolation so you are exposed to the constant noise from the busy streets of Arusha. The blanket on the bed (the one hotels does not clean after every guest) was _really_ unclean and the showers hardly worked. We are talking "dripping" water - no more. Same goes for the internet and breakfast.

All in all - look for cheaper alternatives in the area. Arusha is not a big city after all

In the very noisy centre of Arusha. Many rooms with not functioning showers or electricity problems, breakfast is very basic. Service was poor and always difficult discussions. There are much better lodges or hotels in the neighbourhood for the same price.

Room Tip: that's always a quest: getting a room with a shower that works and at the south-side (less noisy...

I was booked into Naaz hotel by my safari tour operator (Bobby Camping Safari). As the first night of what I thought was a 5-night semi-luxury safari, Naaz was definitely below standards! It's not the worst hotel I've ever stayed at, but it's more of a backpacker's hotel / 1-2 star hotel that's probably meant more for local travellers than international tourists.

Good points:
- hotel managements was responsive to issues
- air conditioning
- hot water worked most of the time (but not all)
- breakfast of fruit, tea/coffee, and plain eggs was average

Negatives:
- air conditioner dripped excessively, and created a large pool of water in the room
- doors did not close properly, allowing mosquitos in
- curtains did not cover the entire window, allowing light in throughout the night
- rooms are generally baren and beds/pillows/blankets were of exceptionally low quality
- TV did not work

Would I stay here again? NO! I paid a lot for the safari, and was disappointed that it started with the Naaz.

Went back to Arusha after 3 years and opted on The Arusha Naaz Hotel once again (earlier reviewed in Nov. 09)
CameronW23 clearly has it all wrong because the staff were fantastic, the room was clean, sheets were washed, food was brilliant and overall enjoyed my 2 nights at the Hotel.
TV's have been upgraded to flat screens since my last visit and safe deposits been added which was very pleasing. A new supermarket has also opened downstairs which has pretty much everything so very convenient.
Happily tipped the staff when leaving due to their great service.

Room Tip: $60 well spent

Stayed here for a couple days before heading off on a Kilimanjaro climb. Best I can say is that it has a TV with some english-speaking channels on it (news & BET). It was clean enough and the beds weren't atrocious, although I wouldn't want to have a long term stay there. Hot water and a good breakfast in the morning.

Some decent restaurants around it and its fairly central to many attractions. Lots of street hustlers outside to sell you souvenirs to take you somewhere "for a tip".

Would I go back to this hotel? Probably not, then again I doubt I will ever go back to Arusha unless fate takes me back there.

Room Tip: Its a room with a lock and a TV with hot water - what more do you need?

This was the most unpleasant accommodation of my 6 months travelling in Southern Africa. I stayed in a number of cheap hostels and I would prefer them...

The staff are useless. They are not interested in helping (although very quick to ask for a tip) and to be honest I am not sure they would be able to anyway. Speaking a bit of english does not mean you should work in a customer service position!

The rooms are small and dirty. The sheets had definitely not been washed. The bathroom was a petrie dish for bacteria. And the mosquito net was probably the dirtiest I have ever seen. I think malaria wouldn't be that bad by comparison.

Worst of all, they are charging $60 per night for this?

Go somewhere else!!!!!

Room Tip: chose a room at a different hotel.
