The hostel is located on the main road through Arusha center, so it an get a bit noisy in the morning hours, especially because all of the rooms are facing the street. Rooms are very simple, the dorms are ok, but the bunk beds are not very stable, so when the person above you moves a lot, you move too. Bathrooms are quite ok, could use a bit more cleaning, but otherwise enough showers and spacious enough. There is an amazing rooftop terrace to chill, they offer free breakfast and for lunch and dinner you can always order something. The bar is opened the whole day and with the couches and view over the mountains it's a very nice place to chill. Excellent wifi all the time.
Around the hostel not much to do, the town itself is quite dirty and except of the local handicraft market we didn't find much to do around. From the hostel it's a 5 minute walk to a big supermarket and an area where you can find "decent" coffee shops and ATM's.
We were lucky we found Albert in the hostel, he's working as a guide in Arusha and Moshi, so he took us around for 2 days, without him we would never see so much as we did, had an awesome local lunch and also a day trip to Moshi and Kilimanjaro National Par. If you look for someone to take you around, he's great, just ask in the hostel about him.

Room Tip: Single rooms are almost at the same price as dorms. All of them face the front street, so it's noisy in the mornings. We stayed in April, so no idea how the fans work when it's hot, but there's no AC.

I stayed at the Arusha backpackers after completing a climb to kilimanjaro, and it was exactly what i needed after a long exhausting 7 days in the mountain. I had a single room, it was very small with a strong fan which was very useful in the heat of february. The size of the room was not an issue for me , as i only used it to sleep and spent the rest of my time in the rooftop recovering from my climb. Staff is nice , however they will not not go out of their way and not vey knowledgable about the area, restaurants etc. terrace was comfortable, with average wifi and decent food. They offer laundry, and it is expensive . They probably know that post kilimanjaro everyone needs everything washed and taking advantage of it. Overall enjoyed my stay and met other travelers and it was good location to get around. Definitely recommend it .

I slept in the room number 204. it is really narrow, there is no mosquito-net, the fan is really noisy and the room wasn't very clean, at night you can even see cockroaches walking around...

Moreover, I book with the reception a taxi at 2:45 am to go to the airport. The taxi never arrive and i received no help from reception. Their service is not reliable.

Had to chuckle at the previous comments. Yes we sat at the bar and ordered food and guess what. Yes you guessed it, they got the order wrong. But we chilled guys and ate it anyway. and the food and bar area are really nice. Bit difficult finding parking if you riding a vehicle. Otherwise pleasant stay

Rooms and showers are all quite fine but the rooftop bar is just horrible. Service is bad, waiters don't understand orders.
Tried ordering food here about 6 times within 3 days. Out of these 6 there were always multiple things not availible, you always got it atleast 40 minutes late after ordering ( this includes just a mango juice). Tastes are bad.
The bar's a good place to meet people though, that's about it...

Room Tip: Check if the fan works and get a room with a window.
