“Dorms fantastic - helpful for travellers”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2013

The host was extremely helpful. We were travelling from Arusha to Nairobi and he told us of 3 travel options, inc prices and got it all booked for us. Good English so easy to understand for non native speakers. Showed us local places.
Dorm was nice, simple, clean, good shower and toilet. Breakfast included in price - very nice.
Definetly recommend.

Excellent stay here with my group for 3 nights. Robert so helpful and friendly. Highly recommend to those needing a campsite in Arusha. Good security and good breakfast available. Electricity can be accessed for charging. Good camping on grassed areas.

We stayed in the dorm and then booked a safari. The hostel was nice, with a really friendly owner and grand rooms. There wasn't very much hot water, especially in the morning so shower at night. The safari we booked was excellent - both the guide and the chef were very good and we enjoyed all of it. There was a bit of confusion about rooms when we got back from the safari but it was all sorted quickly.

Sakina Campsite is a great place for those coming from Nairobi on the shuttle bus. You can request the bus to stop right outside before it gets into busy Arusha. Robert, the Manager, greeted me on the roadside and was incredibly helpful. I had already booked my Kilimanjaro climb but I watched him help another guest organise a safari at very short notice. If you want to get out of Nairobi for the weekend I would suggest this is an excellent place to stay. It's clean, comfortable, hot showers, good breakfast and excellent staff. p.s Robert can also help you organise a Kilimanjaro climb.

We were working in Tanzania for 3 months and took the last weeks for a holiday. During our stay we asked several proposals from many safari companies. We wanted to spend one day climbing Kili and do couple of days safari at Serengeti. The offer that Sakina camp manager Robert did was several hundred dollars cheaper than offers from other safari companies. Still take into consideration that Sakina camp is a budget place: In Serengeti we camped in a tent and the rooms at Sakina are hostel level (though clean and with own bathrooms).

Our guides for Kili and Serengeti were excellent and really knew their stuff and we got to see everything that we hoped for. We used Sakina camp (that is located just outside Arusha) as a “base camp” between the two main trips.

As a summary I really recommend the place. Sakina camp is a safe, cheap & clean place with really friendly service. Manager Robert is a great guy and can arrange you a great safari if you are looking for one.

We have stayed at Sakina Campsite two times in the past year and found it to be very comfortable, quiet and affordable! Robert and Jennifer are both very helpful and accomodating. Robert is able to help set up any excursions you may be interested in! Great breakfast served by Jennifer every morning and dinners are available upon request. Also
laundry service is available for a small cost.
Sakina is a short and inexpensive daladala ride just outside of Arusha town. There are restaraunts and small stores within short walking distance also.
I would definitaly recommend Sakina Campsite to anyone and we look forward to returning again to explore Tanzania further and visit our now friends! Thank you Robert and Jennifer!!
