We chose this property as it was the most affordable out of all the mid-range in Arusha - most wanted up to 200 dollars for 3 people. My group had a mixed arrival at this hotel. We had tried to contact the property via email multiple times before ringing from Australia where we managed to reserve a room for 3 people at a price. After this we finally did hear back via email that we had a room for 3 people at a price. When we got there, we were told we had 3 individual rooms only at this price - this was after multiple emails, a phone all and our agent ringing to double check they had it right.

Even though we had proof via email of this, the manager (short haired lady) refused to accept it. As we were limited in time we had to agree. I would be curious to know if this is a con they pull on all westerners. I believe we ended up pay 65usd for each double room (took 2).

Breakfast is fine, wifi is quick even though only in lobby/restaurant and 1st level. They have a spare computer for use. They have the usual trick where they turn off the hot water so you should check before getting in the shower and ask them to turn it back on. Rooms are nice and modern, reasonably large with flat screen TV and air-conditioning. They aren't double glazed so there is street noise dependent on which side your room faces.

I wouldn't say it was centrally located - it was a reasonable walk into the centre (approx. 20mins) but flat and pleasant. I wouldn't suggest walking back after 7pm better to get a taxi.

Needing a hotel that wouldn't blow the budget prior to our safari, I settled on the Silver Palm. It seems to be fairly centrally located, although I admit that we didn't spend a huge amount of time in Arusha.

First impressions of the hotel were... mixed. The frontage isn't anything exciting, and the reception area is bland and stark to say the least. We were greeted by a surly receptionist, and after filling out the registration card taken up to our room by a more pleasant, engaging porter.

The room was roughly comparable to a UK Travelodge: reasonably comfortable bed, all the essentials, and clean. However, the aircon wasn't working (not a huge problem as it wasn't too hot the night we stayed) and there is no double-glazing, meaning that every sound from the street below transmitted with great ease into the room. There are several bars and cafes close by, which generate a fair bit of noise, but it quietens after midnight. However, the worst problem starts around 0600hrs.

We had a room quite high up in the hotel (we may have been on the top floor, I can't recall). Once people start showering in the morning, the water pipes start ferociously knocking, sometimes for a couple of minutes at a time, sometimes much longer, and when I say knocking I really mean hammering as though half the roof is about to cave in. It took us some time to work out what the noise was - lift mechanism? urgent repair works on the roof? - but eventually we worked out the cause. Unfortunately there's not much you can really do about it, but if you are going to stay here, and you don't want a very early start to miss the racket, then be advised you won't get a comfortable lie in.

Can't comment on the food as we decided to skip breakfast. The shower was a bit temperamental but manageable, and they do provide flip flops to wear in the bathroom (the tiles are literally like ice when wet). I've given this an average rating rather than poor, as Arusha isn't the quietest place anyway, and you may just be too excited about what else Tanzania has in store to be bothered about a good night's sleep. But if you are... you should probably search a little more before booking the Silver Palm.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors are likely to be affected by the knocking plumbing. Anything near the front o...

Very impressed with the reservations, and in whole the hotel. Rooms are well done and staff are courteous...For the price the value is very good.
Just that they don't serve Alcohol in the restaurant, but if you want to bring your own its ok...no corkage i guess...
Rooms don't have internet, need to use wifi only at Lobby & Restaurant. In a way happy it is available rather a no...Otherwise a good hotel. Will not mind coming back!!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms facing the Mount!! view could be stunning!!!

I stayed at this hotel for 4 days in Easter 2013. The rooms were big, with flat Tv and Milan cable channels, AC was working, new high quality furniture and the Room very clean . The only downside I noticed is that Hot water was available at peak times only. The hotel doesnot have a bar but nearby there were plenty of Pubs. The hotel has a lift which was very convenient for us. Breakfast was very nice with a huge range, though service was slow as food were not topped up as fast as it was served. The hotel doesnot have a fenced parking but you have to park outside the hotel which have very helpful Security Guards. In contrast with other hotels in the 50 dollar range, I would classify this hotel as the best hotel in Arusha in its range

During march 2013 Iwe spent one night at the silver palm hotel arusha when we were on our way to Dodoma. The hotel building is brand new, well maintained and has good size room, confortable bed and toilet/shower. It is a 5 storey building and most rooms have decent balcony which you can see the mount meru. Price is also very affordable some tanzania shs 60k (roughly US$38). There are eating place across the street in this area called florida. Reception staff are very friendly (and beautiful!!). Recommended if you want peaceful area as opposed to busy and very very expensive hotels in the city centre (min USD 100 per night single)

Room Tip: choose corner rooms (higher floors) especially room 501

Although the hotel was big but it was nowhere near the minimum service standards, however the rooms were big and bed was very cozy. We reached Arusha at 11Pm in the night and went to singida early morning at 6, the felt sleepy the moment i hit the bed.

We were 2 couples and 4 men and we ended up taking 6 rooms as two men cannot share a room, looks like some laws of land.

Room Tip: 2 Nd floor room
