“Lovely homemade food”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Damascus is the restaurant linked to Bed'Ou'Inn (bed and breakfast, recommeded!) where we stayed during our time in Arusha. It is a bit hidden but worth taking a walk or taxi to if your staying in the citycentre. The atmosphere is relaxed and very friendly, decorations are middle eastern style (low seating, loungelike) but there are regular tables too. The staff is very nice, sometimes a bit shy but always doing everything they can to cater to your wishes. We haven't experienced long waits for our dinner(s). As a true avocado addict I was in love with their homemade nacho's with guacamole, but the rest of the menu was impressive as well. The bruchetta was really nice as a starter or snack.

“Amazing food and cozy vibe”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We come frequently to arusha and discovered damascus by chance.
In 5 days we ate 3 times here - so much about the food. An amazing array of freshly prepared lebanese delicacies.
Very friendly owners/managers and great evenings spent around fireplace (we visited in june which is winter over there…).

Having stayed a couple of nights in their guesthouse bedou-inn - i want to add last but not least comfy mattresses, great pressure on the shower and full on breakfast.
Thx guys

“Great Mediterranean in a romantic atmoshpere”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

We dined here on our last night in Arusha. There was a light breeze in the air and they provided blankets. The food was delicious, but nothing special. Just really solid Mediterranean dips and pita. We were pleased with the service.

“Dont go there hungry”
Reviewed 30 October 2013

We ate here after our Safari. Our guide brought us there and we taught the restaraunt was dismal. It started off well the setting is lovely and the gave us all a Masai blanket to keep warm as it was a little late and windy. They took our order and we then waited and waited for nearly an hour and a half to get our dinner. When they came out with it they had got some of them mixed up and they actually brought one starter of mixed bread too much as no one ordered it. There were 14 of us there. They actually took the starter back even they could not sell it again as each of the 4 slices of bread had a fresh topping on it. The food tasted fairly ok but quantity was small. Some of the group had finished their main course before some of us got ours. The service is extremely poor and i would NOT recommend this place at all. Very very disappointed.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for coming by Damascus and we are truly sorry that your experience did not compare to your expectations. We are taking your comments serious and are working to improve our service in hopes that this will not happen in the future. We do recommend ordering in advance for bigger groups eating together to easy the pressure on the kitchen. With that said, orders should not be mixed and accurate information about preparation time and so on should be forwarded to you as a guest. We have forwarded your comments to both our kitchen and bar staff.
With all the best wishes,
