How can you not love this place! Amazing staff, comfortable rooms, and excellent food - their box lunch was our favorite! WiFi is slow, but slow wifi is much better than no wifi! We will definitely make this our first & last stop on our next trip!

We spent a couple of night at Planet Lodge. The rooms are clean and pleasant, although the mosquito nets aren't attached to the wall. The grounds are spacious and filled with birds, as well as a nice swimming pool and a bar towards the rear of the property.

Lunch was a'la carte, while breakfast was a buffet and dinner was either a buffet or a set menu. The food was very nice and the staff in the restaurant were really smiley and helpful. The reception staff were nice too. At times, the wi-fi was quite slow even in the reception and extremely slow in the rooms, something to consider if you require wi-fi access.

We found it to be a good stopover before starting our northern safari. Peaceful and quite sheltered as it's about 3km out of Arusha town. It's $9 one-way into town, although the hotel offers a free bus (I think it departed at 9 or 10 am each day and returned at 4pm).

We also visited the cultural heritage centre to do some shopping. The cost was $28 one-way which seemed quite expensive, as did the pick-up from the airport. Someone has mentioned this in a previous review and the hotel has replied to say that it is competitive. We didn't stay in any other hotels in Arushas, but compared with other taxis we took in Tanzania it is expensive, even when you take the traffic into account. Overall a very pleasant hotel that offered good value for money as long as you didn't take too may taxis!

My wife and I visited this hotel for two days prior to our Kilimanjaro trek and again for two days after. We found that the rooms were comfortable and interesting as they were in little round buildings with 2 rooms per building. The grounds were well maintained and the staff was pleasant to deal with. My only real issue is that the hotel is quite far outside of the main town of Arusha and the food is extremely expensive compared with local fare. $18 USD for a meal when you can go into town and buy a great meal for two for 20000 TSH (which is about $12 USD at time of writing). I found the food at the hotel restaurant to be bland and it seemed like they were trying too hard to cater to a North American diet without really succeeding.

Room Tip: Hot water takes a long time for shower so whomever wakes first should take a shower immediately and...

I would go again, only if I could negotiate the price for getting there with the taxi (from the airport!). Nice quaint garden surroundings with friendly staff. The food is average and the drinks are pricey - even water!

Clean room, mosquito net without holes although it was not connected to the wall - making its effectiveness a bit questionable. Food was good, staff friendly although you sometimes had to get waiting staffs attention twice if drinks took longer. Location is a little outside the city but was great for us - flying out of Kilimanjaro airport. Overall very happy

Dear nomadictraveller456,

Thank you for choosing us and taking the time to share your recent experience at Planet Lodge. We are pleased to know you enjoyed your stay and left feeling "overall very happy". Likewise, your feedback on the wait staff and time it took for the order to be fulfilled is well noted. We've shared your observation with the respective teams and they are working to see what may have caused the delays.

With regards to the mosquito nets, please rest assured that they are effective. You see, although not secured to the wall our housekeepers know to position the ruffled extra netting fabric generously next to the wall to ensure several layers are touching the wall creating a great barrier from mosquitoes entry into the sleeping quarters. However, we will continue to monitor other client's feedback and make additional improvements as needed.

Once again, asante sana for choosing us!

Best regards,
Eva for Planet Lodge Team.
