“OK for one night”
Reviewed 16 March 2014

This hotel is about an hour drive from JRO airport but a good place to grab a night's sleep before heading out the next day. The bed is very comfortable. The rooms are small but if you are not spending a lot of time here, it is a good place to sleep. The bathrooms are poorly lit. I agree with another poster about the high tub and getting in and out for a shower. The wifi is sketchy - but if you are on vacation, it's not a big deal. The food was average, but filling. The elevator is very slow. I was fortunate to have a room one flight up, so I took the stairs. The staff are accommodating as as helpful as they can be. OK for a one-night stopover.

Amazing hotel building and grounds, but serious issues with service and food.

Having spent 2 nights in Dar, then travelled up to Arusha on a business trip, I had really high expectations from this hotel. It is soaked in history and this is a real bonus!

However, I have to point out that the staff at the hotel (and there are SO many of them!) were rather laid back and unprofessional. I was openly asked for a gift (tip) from a member of staff - this made me feel extremely uncomfortable and I don't recall ever being asked so directly for a tip.

Breakfast was a bit of a letdown. The poor choice, coupled with small flies all over the fresh fruit, pastry, meat and cheese made me stick to coffee and toast.

The excellent coffee shop in the lobby should be tried - it really is good.

TV in my room was unwatchable due to flickering and static, and the push button to activate the shower was unreliable.

Would I recommend it? Probably not, but it is the best hotel in Arusha.........

Room Tip: Try and get a room in the main building as the annexes can feel a little remote, especially if you a...

The grounds are lovely, but, I agree that the rooms could use a good make over. Also be careful in the bathtubs they are very high and you could easily slip and fall coming in and out of it. The wait staff in the dining room for breakfast took some time to deliver coffe/tea and had a habit of looking around to see what was happening in the rest of the room instead of what was happening right in front of them.

Our first stop in Africa was the Arusha Hotel! It was a lovely stay in a clean and comfortable room. The staff was friendly and so helpful! The grounds are lovely for a quick walk around before heading out on safari.

Service is very impersonal and abrupt by lower level staff. Management though are very professional. My shower was flooding the entire bathroom. The wifi needs to be worked on as they are several different hotspots so you continuously need to reconnect. The best thing is the 24hour resturant and bar, now that's what you want after a long day of business away from home, to be able to get to your hotel and know that you can still order a beer and something to eat regardless of the time.

We were staying at Arusha hotel for some business. The rooms are very comfortable. Some rooms if you have trouble with the A/C, ask the reception for assistance. However, the wifi was always failing in the rooms. We connect and it disconnects again - I guess it was because of several hotspots that were created.
The food variety is good. The chef was friendly and I asked for a traditional north Indian spicy dish which he made to the mark. The food is in good portions and was fresh. Breakfast was amazing.
I enjoyed the cold beers by the pool side - great way to unwind the day.
Their lifts are scary! Jerk movements when they start moving/stop moving.
Suggestion to refurbish their lifts.
The bar is classic styled and is a good place to sit and chill out.
