I was familiar with the Arusha Hotel (a.k.a. New Arusha Hotel) from business in the area, and stayed there on a business trip in June 2007. It's an older hotel that has been renovated several times, in stages. The lobby and common areas are all in very good condition, and I've always found the staff very helpful. They also have a great Sunday brunch. On my most recent stay, I stayed in one of the rooms in the newest wing of the hotel, and I was extremely pleased - these are certainly on par or nicer than any of the other large hotels downtown. The trick is to get one of those new rooms! Hopefully they will update the rest in the near future, as I prefer the grounds and common area at the Arusha to the Kibo Palace.
