We reached this lodge after our Kilimanjaro climbing and before our visit to Arusha National Park. Although having a sleep on soft bed was very comfortable after such long trip on a mountain, but I deeply disappointed when I notice that we had a hot water for half a minute only!!! The staff assure us that we will have hot water if we will wait for 2 hours!!! So we had no choice and patiently wait. At the end we did have a hot water for 15 minutes.

We stayed for two nights, one each side of our Kilimanjaro trek. We received a wonderful welcome from the staff who were very friendly throughout our stay. The rooms and facilities were very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep - much needed after a long overnight flight. Sadly it rained heavily on our first stay, so we were not able to enjoy the pretty gardens, but when we returned, the sun had come out and we saw thses in all their glory. We were too tired to use the pool, but enjoyed a well earned Kilimanjaro beer on the terrace with our new friends before a simple, but delicious meal.

After a long flight, it's like a dream come true in this perfect lodge. Friendly staff, beautifull location. A bonus is the swimmingpool. A perfect place to start your trip into Tanzania's wildparks. Don't miss the small but beautifull Arusha National Park

Stayed here for two nights on either side of a Kilimanjaro ascent and was happy with the hotel. Rooms are nice and clean and have a mosquito net, which wasn't required as I didn't see one insect. Nice swimming pool, bar area and restaurant along with very friendly and helpful staff.

Downsides are that there appears to be electricity rationing during the day in Arusha. The hotel has a backup generator but only uses it for cooking and to power their card payment machine, everything else shuts down. Hot water for the showers are also limited.

Room Tip: If you have a credit/debit card that has a chip and pin, you will most likely encounter problems pay...

Thank you very much for your your nice review, and we are happy that you enjoyed your stay at Moivaro Lodge! It's trua that we have been suffering from some power cuts over the last month. The national power supplier was doing maintenance on some of the major power stations, leaving us without power for several days! We apologise for that sincerely, and hope it didn't give you to much trouble during your stay. On those days without power we do run the generator after 6 at night, also for our guests to use for lightning and charging camera's and phones. I hope you did make use of this opportunity!

Once again, thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again one day!

I spent roughly 22 hours on flights to get from Missouri, US to Arusha and was exhausted upon my arrival. This hotel was the perfect place to unwind and adjust to the time change before climbing Kili. My room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The mosquito nets were large enough to cover most of the room, rather than the awkward single-bed nets you sometimes see. There were a couple of small lizards that resembled anoles on the walls and ceiling inside the room, but they are harmless creatures, and their presence wasn't a surprise. The food was adequate. Nothing to rave over, yet nothing to cry over either. The grounds are lovely and relaxing and the staff is friendly. There is a pool, and it looked very well-maintained, but I did not swim in it.

You can have your clothes laundered here for a low price which is convenient. You also can request a massage. The woman performing the massage may not have had any formal training, but she had strong hands and I was very relaxed after. Note they will use baby oil for the massage, so you will leave a little bit more oily than with a traditional Western massage. I was able to schedule a massage the same day I wanted it.

I had one day completely at leisure and wanted to do some exploring, but as a single female traveler, I don't always like venturing out escorted, even if the hotel is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The hotel has a few options for tours through the local area--the hotel has a map of the local area upon which 8-12 places to visit are listed, if I remember correctly I choose 3-4 sites from the map and a member of the hotel staff took me to each of those places. We walked through the coffee plantation located next door, through trails to the top of a nearby hill (which was fascinating as there were people holding religious services on the side of the hill in the bush), and to an orphanage. The orphanage was wonderful and fun as we were able to sing, dance, and lunch with the children. I believe the total cost was $10.

Dear Elizabeth,

Thank you very much for writing this nice and long review! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay at our lodge, and that you even took the chance to take a cultural tour through the village. The kids of the orphanage are always very happy when we bring our guests to play with them! We hope to see you again some time in the future, and once again we really appreciate it that you took the time to write this review!

Regards and have a great day!

After a long hawl flight this lodge outside Arusha is a good first contact with Tanzania : small bungalow room, very quiet, bed with mosquito net, nice garden, sweet people and good breakfast

Big grounds around swimming pool to relax (take care of mosquitos!)

Room Tip: if you arrive at night and tired ask a room close to reception

We stayed for 2 nights, either side of a climb up Kilimanjaro. The shower on our return was most memorable, after 8 days in a tent! The lodges are nicely spaced within well-maintained grounds, and close to the central restaurant/reception building and pool. The food is pretty good, particularly the breakfasts, and the service is excellent. There were reports from other guests of plumbing problems in some of the chalets, particularly the flow of hot water. In other respects the rooms were entirely adequate and quite atmospheric. The free wifi was particularly welcome, and enabled us to re-establish contact with the outside world.

Room Tip: Check that the hot water is working in your room!
