“Interesting museum, nice café ”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

This is a great museum to spend some time and to learn more about the region's german colonial past and the flora and fauna of the area. The buildings are nicely set in a lovely garden, the café around the back is very pleasant as well. In short: well worth a visit!

“Meh. But good to take in if you are unfamiliar with Tanzania history”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

The Boma Museum is ok. Not great; not bad, just OK. There is a lot of good history explained here that you won't get wandering around town or the national parks, so that part is helpful to understand that things were not always peaceful in Tanzania.

“interesting museum”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

the Museum's history is intertwined with the town of Arusha. It was initially a German colony post with relics of the German occupation of Arusha. There was also a lot of stuffed wild animals. It was an average museum with an enthusiastic curator.

“Relatively small museum...”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

Its relatively small museum, but worth a visit for an hour or so, enough to learn more about history of Tanzania.
It lacks "real" pictures / collections though!

“in the steps of our ancestors”
Reviewed 22 December 2013

There is not much to visit in Arusha but this small museum setteled in the former german boma worsth a visit. It gives a good description of the prehistorical sites and the archeological researches conducted in Tanzania. Useful for those who want to go to the Olduvai valley. Interesting if you don t go to Dar es Salaam and have no chance to visit the very beautiful museum there. Also an introduction to the history of the country, but there is also a museum of history in Arusha with more documents. In addition beautiful pictures of animals.
