“Wonderful rooms in a serene setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Beautiful grounds and accommodations. Staff is exceptionally attentive and nice particularily Gladness who went out of her way to help with some flight issues. Wonderful, relaxing areas throughout the property. The food was very good and the wait staff attentive. A fantastic spot to begin or end your Tanzanian adventure.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are in their own separate bungalows. Select one not near the main road.

Arusha Coffee Lodge is situated in a tranquil haven on the edge of town. The setting is beautiful, accommodation is of a high standard, the staff are very attentive and the food is of a good quality. An ideal location to unwind and be pampered.

We spent our first night in Tanzania in the lodge. What a comfortable and relaxing stay it was. Beautiful room and excellent food and service. We were really sorry to leave. Would live to return soon.

The Arusha Coffee Lodge is a nice retreat from the busy tourist city of Arusha, just outside of the city center. The main building of the hotel is well appointed and houses reception, the dining room, the bistro (alternative dining option), small swimming pool, souvenir shop, and a Tanzanite shop. There is a beautiful courtyard with many tables under umbrellas for resting and having lunch/drinks. The rooms are freestanding cottages that are a bit of a walk from the main building. Luckily, porters are available to help with luggage along this gravel path. The rest of the staff is very friendly, speaks decent English, and are very accommodating. Our room was beautiful with a nice layout. A nice sitting area with couch and television immediately upon entry and then a large canopy style bed behind some privacy glass. The bed was very cushiony and comfortable. The bathroom is in a separate room and has large windows looking out on a private patio. There is a large tub as well as a double showerhead. We only stayed one night, but this is a place that would be comfortable for a multiple-night stay.

They provide a lunch buffet at additional cost with a good sampling of African food. For dinner, there is a comprehensive menu in the dining room, but we were advised to eat in the bistro for some of their delicious pizza. The pizza was well worth it and they are a little over a foot in diameter, making a generous helping for one or adequate for sharing between two people. Their bar is well stocked and they are able to make a variety of drinks at a standard acceptable for the USA.

The only downside is that we noticed things were a little more expensive here than the other places we had stayed in Tanzania. A short cab ride into town (less than 10 minutes) was a $30 charge from the hotel! In smaller cities in Tanzania, we had been paying $1-2 for a similar ride. A one-hour tour of their coffee plantation was $30/person and cocktails were also a few dollars more than we had been paying. This is likely a consequence of this being a nice hotel in a tourist city like Arusha. Despite these minor increased costs, Arusha Coffee Lodge is still overall a good value and a comfortable and luxurious place to stay. We will plan on staying here again on return to Tanzania.

We enjoyed everything about our stay at the Arusha Coffee Lodge! The rooms were beautiful, bathroom roomy, outside sitting areas and very comfy large bed. The food and service in the dining room was perfect. We enjlyed watching the monkeys while we were having a late lunch in the bistro....true the monkeys did break a plate. I highly reccommend this lodge to anyone staying in Arusha.

I stayed here in between lodges in the Masai Mara and Serengeti as it's tough getting from one to the other in a day. The location is very close to the local airport so leaving for the early morning flight was a 10 min drive. The lodge is on a working coffee plantation so you can buy beans to take with you if you have space in your bag. The lodge is made up of individual cottages well spaced apart so you have a feeling of privacy once inside. The decor is cool with a coffee glass divider between the seating area and the bed. I really liked the outside seating area with small fireplace and the open bathing area. If I hadn't been enroute to the Serengeti I would have stayed longer.

From the moment we arrived at the airport, we got treated exceptionally well... the driver was friendly and very knowledgeable of his country and even spoke Spanish.. I lovely surprise...
We arrived at the hotel well before dark, the surrounding was amazingly beautiful with excellent members of staff, wanting nothing more than make our welcome the best they could.. and they did.
Our lodge was incredibly beautiful, a spacious lodge with wonderful surrounding and all the amenities that you could possible need. from home to home.. that how we felt.. the bathroom was luxurious and we had our own private chimenea for the cold evenings.. sadly we didn't used it.. but was lovely.
At the restaurant, once again the staff was more than willing to help us.. we choose the local food .. and we asked for a second helping.. it was that good..
The gardens were lovely with a swimming pool area and lovely sitting arrangements for lunch.
We found out in our return.. that we had the best lodge number 30..
The food was very good as well, with plenty of selection including breakfast.. and free Wifi.. that is a plus..
All in all a wonderful first stay for us.. was fabulous highly recommended..

Room Tip: Ask if at all possible for lodge number 30
