My wife and I spent the first night of our honeymoon at the Arusha Coffee lodge before heading off on safari. We were a little aprehensive on the drive to the hotel as the surounding areas of Tanzania are extremely poor. But we need not have worried as the luxury that awaited us at the lodge was second to none. Infact we stayed at 5 other locations across Tanzania and Zanzibar and the Coffee Lodge outshone them all. The lodges are beautifully finished to an immaculate standard. The rooms contain an enormous bed, a separate living area with flatscreen satellite TV, separate bath and shower. The shower had three shower heads, outside private sunbathing area together with a fully furnished veranda. One word of warning though, when we finished our safari, we returned to the lodge for a buffet lunch at our own expensive. This cost $26 per person which was a bit saucy in my view. However, all in all the lodge was fantastic

Lovely tranquil setting nestled into a coffee plantation. Very conveniently located 10 mins drive from Arusha airport, yet I wasn't bothered by planes flying--in fact I got the best rest I've experienced in a long time in the big soft comfortable bed with only the sound of bush babies and crickets lulling me to sleep. The staff went out of their way to make my stay more pleasant, even accommodating me with a lovely big breakfast on my own after I was late and missed the public breakfast. I actually liked the coffee soaps, they have a subtle aromatic smell and are good antioxidants. Nice brick oven pizzas! Good set menu also.

The Coffee Lodge is a wonderful place to begin your safari. After a long trip from the US it was just the place to spend the first day relaxing and resting up for the upcoming safari. The service, food and rooms were beyond my expectations. Highly recommend it.

We were bowled over with the luxury of the cottages here. Our room had every amenity needed - flat screen tv, plush carpet, lovely bathroom, private sun deck, and unlimited coffee and biscuits. Our bed was enormous and extremely comfortable. The food, while excellent, was a bit slow to arrive.
Another bonus is that this lodge is within ten minutes of the Arusha airport - perfect for those with internal flights.
This is one of the most expensive places to stay in Arusha, but I can easily see why. I would love to stay here again.

The newly renovated lodges are excellent - private, modern and with a great feel. The setting amongst the coffee plantation is unqie (at least for me). The design of these lodges really is excellent.

Without wanting to sound like a spoilt tourist, we found the service quite mixed. We had to request food / drinks several times before they actually arrived, and had to ask three times for the laundry to be collected - before eventually carrying the bag down to reception myself. Being served mince that was still raw wasn't a good start to our stay.

Having said that, there were a couple of staff members who were excellent - but some of their peers didn't really seemed to have been trained in customer service.

A small point - but the pulsating shower that fluctuates in both pressure and temperature (presumably for some type of massage-effect) was plain annoying.

We actually were bumped to this hotel as Mountain Village was overbooked. What a great error for us. This hotel was charming, with great service and very large rooms. The food was excellent and the feel of the "lodge" was incredible. This is the hotel we will stay at the next time we visit Tanzania.
