Finally a modern place to celebrate holidays in Khao Lak! Nothing against thai styled resorts and hotels but for modern design lovers this a nice welcome in Phuket/Khao Lak area.
We arranged transfer via hotel and had a smooth transfer to hotel. Had great time while chatting with a driver and hotel representative. Not a car lover but sitting in BMW7 series made me want to have the same car back home....
We were greeted by hotel staff including the hotel's manager and the check in happened in the villa: quick and professional. The check out took quite a time because they forgot apply discounts on our restaurant bill.
The villa is geek heaven: lights are controlled by electronic system which took us quite a time to figure out, TV can be used as a computer, as a hifi set ( though more music choice would be welcome). Wifi speed was perfect!
Villa had actually everything you need: coffee machine, free mini bar, wine cooler, bose ipod station and great bed.
The airconditioning did a perfect job as well but I found kind of strange that it was not possible to put airconditioning higher that +23c. We do prefer to keep temperature in tropical countries a little bit higher. So, you might feel very cold when you are back from the beach. Turning off airco kind of solved this problem.
The room was serviced twice, including turndown which included sweet treat. They still strugling find the wibe in service. Small details as one evening they turn on antimosquito fumigator, another night they don't and even do not replenish refill of it. But these are small details happening in all new hotels. I am sure in a few months all things will go smooth!
Breakfast is great if you choose asian dishes and good if you choose western style food. Croissants are low quality and eggs benedict tasted weird. The food at restaurant is very well presented and tasted very good ( did not try western menu( beside desert), only asian). But the desert, I had tiramisu was the worst I have ever had: it was delivered frozen and did not taste as tiramisu at all. All I could think is because of the low season they did not make it fresh but in that case as a restaurant chef I would not serve it at all and remove from the menu. So, tiramisu was the biggest dissapointment of this resort...
Besides the great villas the resort has unpretentious, caring and service minded staff. Some might be shy but they all trying it's best to please guests! Guys at the receptions were always happy to chat with us and make some jokes. Management were very open to receive any feedback: negative or positive. They gather all information to make this place even better. If they keep going onwith this mentality they will definately become one of the best places in this area!
We are planning to go back next year! Thank you all for great time!
