My wife and I stayed at Casa De La Flora in early December 2013 for 8 nights as part of a short tour of Thailand which, in addition, took in Chiang Mai and Bangkok.

We booked Casa De La Flora a few months in advance directly with the hotel. The staff were very responsive to our needs and questions which covered both the hotel reservation as well as tours and recommended activities located nearby.

We stayed in a Beachfront Pool Villa which had amazing views of the ocean, a private pool and a secluded garden area for sunbathing and relaxing. The room was perfect, all mod cons with home entertainment system, movies and music. You can easily plug in your own IOS devices too. Early December was very quiet in the hotel; this suited us completely. Having said that, we felt that even at full capacity, the design of the hotel meant that it would never seem oversubscribed and would therefore remain a very relaxed and tranquil place to stay.

I saw in previous reviews, some people mentioned problems with paint and cracks and evidence of the property "ageing" - On our trip in December we saw no evidence of this, whatsoever - everything was perfect and great care is taken to look after both the property and gardens.

The hotel staff were all excellent, extremely polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel is lovely, but the staff make it truly exceptional.

I would definitely return to Casa De La Flora. We were a bit dubious about it at first, as it has a fairly radical design for Thailand and does not necessarily fit into the traditional mould of traditional teak style hotels. That said, we loved the design and as we were travelling to more traditional hotels later in our trip, the modernity was a great contrast.

Room Tip: We chose the Beachfront Pool Suite. We liked the room in particular because we had a good deal of s...

We stayed a total of 5 nights in this spectacular modern boutique hotel. We picked the hotel because of its minimalist desgin and architecture - and it did not dissapoint! We originally ordered a Studio pool Villa, however this got upgraded upon arrival without asking, to a Duplex Pool suite which was a two story, very private villa with a secluded pool on the first floor. The rooms are spacious, the beds are great and there are two separate bathrooms with showers - one on each floor. The entertainment system also deserves a mention, there are two large flatscreen tv`s connected to two mac minis which are fast and brilliant with music, internet, movies and TV easily available and its all connected to an exellent Bose sound system. There is also free, fast and reliable wi-fi in the entire hotel. There is a complimentary minibar which is replenished daily. The staff are all very friendly, and service is excellent - the waiter at breakfast, "Boom", greeted us by name each morning and the food was excellent, be it for breakfast lunch or dinner. The general manager and all the other staff was also very attentative walking around the property daily to make sure every guest was as comfortable as possible. We decided to extend our stay for another day and the front desk staff arranged a new villa for us, altough none were listed as available on the website. This time a Duplex Grand Pool villa which has a larger pool, a small garden, and an arresting view of the Andaman ocean from the bed - really unmatched! As for the Khao Lak area in general, there is not that much to offer in terms of nightlife or activities. The beach is nice and not crowded at all, however the main attraction here is the Casa De la Flora hotel. If you want to chill out for a couple of days we could not recommend a better place to do it!

Room Tip: Make sure to choose a room with sea view

the view of the beachfront suite is just excellent. From your room, you have direct access to your pool and terrace and being so close to the splash of the waves. Indeed every morning, you are awakened by the waves which is a spectacular view especially in high tide. However, the beach was not exactly the soft sandy beach that we kind of expected
The in-villa BBQ is just overwheming! The setting is super with lots of flowers and candle setting, the chef, manager was attentive to details and very accomodative to the changes on the the menu items. Seafood is of high quality, but in terms of quantity, can trim down a lot to avoid waste. The highlight of the dinner was the fire lantern balloon which we set off after dinner with our wish written on it, This really is a fabulous wrap up!
For the breakfast, the staff is very friendly and the manager is nice, but will suggests more variation to the daily mini buffet which is the same every day. However, more training on the staff to beef up operational logistics will be appreciated e.g. take wrong orders and assuming you wilk repeat the same juice every time
However, being a boutique hotel, there are still areas of improvement:
1) wifi internet failures too frequent
2) Pick up from hotel, we were expecting hotel car pick up , but the pick up seems like a freelancer ( not hotel car) and also drives too slowly. A one hour trip turns out to be 1hr 20 mins and the car not cool enough and not having the normal welcome service such as wet cool towerl and water
3) Driveway - many hotels have driveways to their lobby and we were not expecting the drop off in the middle of the road in front of the lobby
4) while 85% of the staff are friendly and nice, the reception can certainly be more cheerful and welcoming at check in and more responsive during check out
5) Sparkling wines for breakfast, does not realise that they require extra fees, while most of the other resorts are free, especially when this is mentioned in the resort website and hence provide a wrong impression
All in all, in Khao Lak ,this is an unmistakable choice as it is very private and secluded, but a villa with a Pool is recommended to avoid sharing the public pool which is mostly full in all cases.
Pick the beachfront suite and you will not regret

Room Tip: splash for a room with a view

Warmest greetings from Casa de La Flora Khao Lak!

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate your time and effort in sharing your thoughts about your experience at our resort. From your comment, let me explain to you as the followings; we have found that the failure of wifi signal is depend on customer's device as well. From testing those days, your IPAD & hotel IPAD still had signal working properly, but only your phone; now we are rechecking all signal and ensure for this problem. Secondly, the time from Phuket Int' Airport to our Resort will normally take about 1 hour and 10 - 20 minutes depend on traffic. For the rest, we will look forward to the process of improvement as it is our goal to create as comfortable and accommodating a stay for our guests as possible.

My wife and I stayed for 14 nights in this fabulous hotel, returning 5 days ago. We were picked up at Phuket airport by the hotel mini bus and taken in luxury to the hotel which took about one hour. The staff were fantastic making us feel right at home from day one, always smiling and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We went out to eat on a couple of occasions but the food at the hotel restaurant could not be bettered in the restaurants nearby. Ya, the restaurant manager was superb overseeing the staff and ensuring our dining experience was everything we expected. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes. We stayed in one of the grand deluxe duplex suites on 3 levels with it's own very private pool. The accommodation is very modern spacious and private. Everything you could ask for.
If we return to Thailand we would certainly stay at The Casa de la Flora.

Room Tip: Villa 2317 (LILAC) was the unit we occupied which was located perfectly for the main pool and restau...

Just spent five nights in this hotel and would absolutely recommend it as with only 30 plus suites it is very quiet, adult only and hence so relaxing. Staff are very attentive, suites are well equipped, the bath however takes along time to fill given the size but once done wow how glorious especially with the beautifully branded bath products . Our suite was named Moke and it was the second graded deluxe villa which was absolutely fine with a part sea view from upstairs bedroom. We ate out every evening and found the food excellent and never spent much more than £10per head for drinks and food! We hired a motor scooter for £4.00 per day, no insurance is available but we just tootled around locally and it was a great way of quickly getting into the town but also easy enough to walk in from the hotel . Breakfast at the hotel was very good but because we didn't have it included at £18 each we only tried it once so ensure you get a package deal as the setting of the restaurant is delightful. If you come out of the front of the hotel onto the beach, turn right the beach bar is great fun with the lady/boy who is very attentive! 5pm is happy hour so cocktails for £1.80.

The hotel spa is a superb tranquil environment and the girls are lovely although as all hotel spa's it is the usual price structure but for convenience and ambience well worth a treat! Or the other alternative without question is to enjoy the local massages at amazing value at around £8.00, the cabana beds on the beach by the beach bar are great, we had, tai, it coconut oil, pedicure, manicure, foot scrub etc etc....a real treat!

Our holiday was two centre but really glad we came to Khao Lak first then Bangkok at the end, the right way round definitely. Stayed at the Centrium in Bangkok, would recommend also! Flew Thai Airlines for the first time and an excellent experience .

Booked our holiday with Lisa Savage at Trailfinders in Birmingham, fantastic knowledge and some great recommendations for what turned out to be a first class holiday.

My partner and I had a perfect stay in a Beachfront Suite Villa during the last week of November. The high cost for the suite was well worth it for the extra space inside and outside. The patio was great for sunning and watching the stunning sunsets. The plunge pool was larger than I thought it would be and was a pleasure to use in the afternoons and evenings. The food in La Aranya was delicious and beautifully presented. All of the staff (especially Boon!) were so friendly and polite.

It should be noted that very recent changes have been made to the beachfront area that are not shown yet in the photos on the hotel's website. The hotel's retaining wall has been moved about 15 feet closer to the water (see my photo). The area was filled-in with sand creating an elevated artificial beach with coconut palms and loungers. They did a great job with the design and landscaping, but this means less room on the beach. Don't let this scare you away from staying here as the new addition seems to be a big upgrade from what was originally there. Just a short walk down the beach you'll find the wide stretches of sand that you're looking for.

We struggled for a long time deciding between Casa de la Flora and The Sarojin. Once we arrived at Casa de la Flora, we knew we had made the right choice. We are lovers of modern design and this unique property did not disappoint. We made a few visits to White Sand Beach which is in front of The Sarojin. And although we loved making day trips to this beach (probably the best in Khao Lak, if not all of Thailand), we found The Sarojin's location to be too isolated for us. We enjoyed being able to walk just 5 minutes from Casa de la Flora to the center of Bang Niang each night. Bang Niang is an energetic little town with lots of bars and restaurants.

Stay at Casa de la Flora if you love modern design, luxury, great service, privacy, ocean views and close proximity to restaurants, bars and massage huts!

Room Tip: Beachfront Suite Villas have an amazing view and lots of outdoor space.

We stayed in this hotel for 5 nights to celebrate our honeymoon and my 30th birthday and it was amazing.

We were treated to wine, flowers and a romatic candlelit bath on our arrival to congratulate us on our wedding which was a wonderful touch.

We stayed in a duplex pool villa which was fabulous, the plunge pool was great after a long day sunbathing. The amenities in the room were great, having two bathrooms was useful and the quality of fittings and design were outstanding.

The restaurants were great - good quality food - amazing cocktails and great service. IngFah restaurant was great for tapas and cocktails in a sci fi setting.

The stand out for us was the team of staff who work tirelessly - the general manager spoke to guests daily and the team were friendly and sincere. My husband and the events manager planned a romantic meal for my birthday to watch the sunset. They went out of their way to make it special, even singing Happy Birthday with a cake. It was a lovely touch.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. I'll always remember watching the sunset in La Aranya on our last night, beautiful.
