Fantastic service at Kantary Beach

We booked a long stay at half-board for 15 nights with some friends. From the moment we arrived I felt really positive about the hotel. The rooms and the grounds felt really special and from seeing the big hermit crabs on the gorgeous beach on the first night I knew we had made a great choice. We visited friends at some other ostensibly superior hotels in Khao Lak while we were there but they never felt as tasteful as Kantary Beach. Every night in the restaurant and also for breakfast the service was amazing. While everywhere in Khao Lak looks to be struggling against the current pandemic situation the morale at this place feels really good. The gardeners are always out keeping it in shape.

Nice beachfront location

They were kind enough to send their vehicle to pick me up from the main highway. Up and down the coast here you really need your own transport otherwise you are subjected to exorbitant taxi fares. Quick check in and whisked off in a golf cart to my room. My Suite was close to the restaurant and the beach. It was like a 1br condo. Modern, clean with all the comforts of home. Adequate lighting, quiet aircons, storage space and comfortable bed with clean linens.
The bathroom had an enclosed hot water shower with excellent water pressure. I wish my condo had pressure like this.
The restaurant was open for all meals and the staff were friendly. For breakfast I had buffet 1 day and set menu the next. Ample food to set you up for the day.
Plenty of room in the pools as I was the only person when I had a swim.
On checkout I was picked up by the golf cart and reception organised one of the exorbitantly expensive taxis for me. I was only going 8kms down the road to my next destination and this cost 300 or 350 baht. As a comparison. I took a private taxi from Ubon Ratchathani to Sisaket, a distance of 68kms and the standard fare is 300 baht.
This is a 4 star hotel but it felt like 5 star to me. I was happy I splurged.

Beautiful Place

Service couldn’t have been better. Enjoyed our stay. Great beachside pool. Breakfast was excellent. They packed a breakfast when we left early for a Surin island tour. Upgrade to villa was terrific. We’ll be back

Disappointing for a Cape & Kantary

I was looking forward to a couple of days here but was not impressed! It's a mere shadow of the Cape Panwa and Kantary Bay Phuket
Rooms are a long walk from reception there's hardly anything open and menu in the restaurant is extremely basic and food quality is not good although the waiter was very friendly and bent over backwards to please us
The toilet's in the swimming pool are a disgrace I doubt anyone has checked them in months basically birds fly into them and their droppings are very evident
There are no mama noodles provided as is the norm for kantary properties not any cooking facilities or face towels in the bathroom
Also no washing machines in the room yet they charge 100 baht for coin machines that are normally 30 baht really?
Kantary Bay for me only next visit

Had a great short break in difficult times!

We had a great stay in the Kanatary for a short break for our anniversary. It is our 3rd visit staying in one of the private villas. These villas are well located to the restaurant and beachfront and one of the pools. They are large, very comfortable and well equipped. All the staff were really great as always, especially Mr Nong from the restaurant and the Reception Manager and the young man who is the supervisor called Krit who we used mostly for the golf cart service to and from our car at reception. We had a great Thai meal (Very reasonably priced) as room service the first night, which as the weather was bad, was really convenient. The internet was good and stable throughout our stay.

My points of criticism would be that the TV in the room is old fashioned and doesn't have a workable USB port to watch any files and the cable package is very limited (one English channel) if your not Thai. There were no DVD's offered even though there is a DVD player. The breakfast which is usually a buffet is currently only served as A La Carte due to the Covid situation, which is fine but we would have liked a bit more selection on the hot food choices and the bacon had been pre cooked and was cold and hard and should have been made to order as there were very few guests staying during our time there.

Room tip: If you can book a Villa they are great and give you the option of a lounge area and small kitchen.
