Holiday in Hua Hin is always enjoyable. Staying in Dusit Polo Hua Hin is much more fun, comfortable and feel safty. The hotel surrounding including rooms are perfect. We love pools so much. There are 2 pools, the normal one and the salt pool. Both of them are great. The hotel facility is great. It offers health club i.e. tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis and etc.

Room tip: Pillow is too soft. Though, we double the pillow, it is still too low.... Put 2-3 pilliows at least in case you love a high pillow like me. Overall hotel room is great.

The Dusit Hua Hin ain't what she used to be - sadly! Rooms and facilities are in need of a good overhaul but management seems to have decided to reduce staff, increase drinks prices and get miserly on the range and quality of food in the restaurants. Some rooms have been renovated but those on the waiting list are not worthy of a Dusit hotel - dirty behind the bed, facilities that don't work and tired furniture. If you can find waiting staff at a restaurant good luck! You won't find the range of food they used to be famous for. The main pool looks picturesque but is shabby. It's all very sad because the Dusit Hua used to be a grand old lady. She's not anymore and there are plenty of other places around that offer much better value!

Room tip: Clean behind the beds and get the telephones to work!

Dear Paul62Canberra,

Thank you for taking the time to passionately share comments regarding your latest stay with readers of TripAdvisor.

We are deeply concerned that a valued regular visitor should return to their homeland feeling so disillusioned with so many aspects of their stay at a resort that you once saw as a ‘Grand Old Lady!’ and can only apologise that our seeming complacency saw a friend leave with such a bitter taste in his mouth having deserved far better treatment.

At Dusit Thani Hua Hin we genuinely do continue to aspire to five-star standards. Therefore, we can offer no excuses whatsoever for providing a dirty room with malfunctioning equipment and are consequently very sorry that this apparently happened. Though it may be of little consolation now, all involved from management down to rank-and-file level in the areas concerned have been reminded of their duties and responsibilities during a series of recent clear-the-air workshops aimed at eradicating any similar incidents in future.

Whilst it is well documented within the pages of this forum that our guest rooms are slowly but surely being brought up to scratch with absolutely minimal disruption to our guests, it is most disconcerting that you should regrettably have been left with the impression there have been any policy changes entailing reductions in manpower and ranges or quality of food in our restaurants and bars.

It is always our best intention to reply to all posts transparently. Therefore, we cannot deny that the past twelve months have indeed seen movement within the upper echelons of both our Kitchen and Food & Beverage Management. Inevitably experienced new faces bring with them gradual change, hopefully for the better, but everybody sits down together on a regular basis to discuss whether we are moving in the right direction and at the right pace. Your observations give us plenty of food for thought moving ahead and so we are glad to receive negative comments to balance the many positive ones we have received.

Warmest regards,

Some other travellers gave mentioned that the hotel is dated. It is. With Hua Hin having some cool trendy hotels opened in the last few years, the big points for the Dusit Thani are the lovely, well established grounds and the very good spa.

The staff serving food is unusually lacking in friendliness. Things were not busy but getting their attention has been a challenge.

The beach is small and rocky but fantastic fresh water pool, with shallow and deep water for families to be able to enjoy the pool together. Frangipani trees offer natural shade and great backdrop for pictures. Charming ( but very noisy - hence my lower score for sleep quality) birds populating the trees. Polo and ridding on site.

Great for families for very young children but for couples below 50 I would totally avoid unless looking for a good and reasonably priced spa.

Room tip: All rooms have sea (facing or side ) view. May try for room 122 - ground floor with amazing sea views.

Dear ZOR-016

Thank you for taking time to post your review on Trip Advisor.

We are disappointed just as you were regarding the friendliness and responsiveness of our team. We shall certainly remind them of the importance of providing Thai graciousness which is very much the service standard by Dusit throughout Thailand and the world.

Our guests have exclusive use of the beach, and 3 swimming pools to choose from, including the Olympic sized 50-meter swimming pool, the children’s pool which is adjacent to the Main Pool, and the saltwater Garden Pool situated on the other side of the accommodation wing. The wide range of recreational facilities on site ranging from horse riding, tennis, squash, badminton and table tennis offer many choices for our active guests. With DKids offering parents peace of mind for their children to play stations in their own dedicated lounge, our resort is ideal for families.

All our premium suites from Lanai Suite, Dusit Suite to Presidential Suite command wonderful ocean and beach view comprising of a separate bedroom and living room, with our Presidential Suite offering two bedrooms. All suites can be connected to another room to accommodate larger families.

We hope we would have the pleasure of your next visit.

Thanks & regards.

The main problem is with staff becoming more and more relaxed and unresponsive which negatively affects the impression created by other elements.

Property is excellent but it's about 10 minutes ride to the town center / night market. Beach is not great

Room tip: Try to avoid main pool view during wedding season.

First stay in Thailand, writing this now staying at the resort, arrived after 3.5 hours traveling time from bkk .. Lovely reception receiving comp drinks ... First arrival they asked if we wanted to up grade to a better room ( we already paid with fights 4700.00 sterling) but wanted another 900.00 sterling !,, we booked a room a year ago for three adults but they were showing us a room which had a double bed and a put u up bed for a minor. In the end after sixteen hours traveling time was palmed of with a room that had a double bed and a single put you up bed for a minor ( soo why did we pay for 3 adults) ????? We expected a bit mor for our money for a five star hotel our room is very basic I know they are doing the hotel up . But please please if that's the case why don't they subsidise the basic rooms and the better rooms at different rates? Had a lovely spa experience will recommend we are staying in room 554 but very dated but the staff are so so friendly xxxx for the staff

Dear charlieashford,

Thank you for taking the time during your stay to post your thoughts and feelings objectively on Trip Advisor. By doing so it gave us a welcome opportunity to address your comments and personally try to right a few wrongs.

It is good to know that our staff created a mainly positive experience and you enjoyed the treatments at Devarana Spa, literally our “Garden in Heaven”.

Thank you for allowing us to clear up the misunderstanding upon arrival. We are sorry that a recently-employed receptionist had not properly taken in the training he had received and so was unable to properly brief you on the many benefits of upgrading to Club privileges besides the room. Though it will be of little consolation to you now, he will undergo a second orientation to ensure he is fully ready for the duties he is assigned to perform.

We appreciate your patience after a gruelling journey from the United Kingdom and can empathise that a comfortable bed to fall into would be high on the list of priorities. Our Superior Rooms contain either two twin beds or a kind-sized bed, allowing two people to move comfortably around the room without obstruction. Hence, it is convenient for the occupants to place a rollaway third bed as and when required.

The hotel is now in her twenty-fourth year and like all of us trying to grow old gracefully. As you correctly say, we have an ongoing improvement programme in place. However, with around 300 rooms and the other facilities to be maintained or upgraded, balancing renovation work whilst causing absolute minimal disruption to our valued guests is quite a juggling act.

charlieashford, we trust that you had a safe and not-too-arduous journey home and would consider visiting Dusit Thani Hua Hin or other Dusit International properties again.

Thanks & regards
