The Regent Cha Am Beach Resort so near from Bangkok only 2 hours by driving but if you want to go by train it have 2 trip from Bangkok rail way station to Barn Cha Am rail way station and hop in Orange bus(Petch Buree to Hua Hin) to the front of this hotel. There are many interesting place near the Regent Cha Am ,King Rama VI seaside palace, King Rama VIIII seaside palace, Hua Hin night life and peacefull beach.I love this hotel so much because no mini bar so I can use hotel refigerator for my duty only. Hot water in bathroom is superb you can adjust temperature of water all time. Some Hotel It so problem for me to adjust temperature of water.About seafood in hotel food is best but you must try tradition Thai seafood at Cha Am seafood market near stone bridge only 15 minute from The Regent Cha Am. The Regent Cha Am personal is so friendly last month(Aug 2013) our office(400 person) visit this Hotel we had smile all time from hotel person. They try to help us every thing food ,drink ,cleaning and check out you must imagination 400 person checkout in the same time.

Room Tip: Room near swimming pool is best near seaside and lobby.

Dear BAR_CHARAT,

Thank you for staying with us during the company trip. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We also appreciate the great tips on where to visit and eat, this is always useful information for someone who has never visited the area. I'm glad you enjoyed the empty mini bar as well as previous guests have recommended that they prefer stocking it themselves with things they like.

We do hope you will return in the future for your personal holiday. Kob Khun Kha.

As seems to be the general opinion in the reviews this hotel is now past it's best. My wife and I first visited the Regent about fifteen years ago and have been almost every year since. Sometimes twice a year. Unfortunately when Holiday Inn took over the improvements badly needed did not materialise and I think they realised just how much it was going to cost to get the place back to its former glory! Hence the getting out while the going was good and handing back to the Thai owners. I sincerely hope the new management quickly gets to grips with the necessary work. I have members of staff on Facebook and they are now becoming more and more disillusioned with their own situation. Personally I would look elsewhere for now although the area itself is well worth a visit.

Dear AlanPercival,

Its nice to hear from regular guests such as yourself and I thought I'd update you on the resort with the hope you will be back again next year. As you rightly mentioned, the property is now back in the original owner's hands and we have begun to make a number of improvements and updating the rooms and facilities. Due to the sheer size of the property, this is admittedly a time consuming process. Rooms and facilities are being updated gradually to ensure minimum disruption to guests, this includes providing refresher training to existing staff. Being almost 30 years old, the property is a landmark property in Cha-am, being the first resort of its kind in the town. We do hope to have the "old girl" back in tip top condition soon and it would be nice to have regular guests such as yourself back again.

Thank you again for taking the time to post your comment and we will make our best attempt to match, if not outdo, the original quality and standards.

Your very old and dear friend looks forward to welcoming you again soon.

Warmest regards,

Kritsana Boungam

On wanting to get away with some friends of the holiday weekend at short notice we had problems finding somewhere to stay, we eventually stumbled on the Regent which hasnt long been taken back from the Holiday Inn back to Regent! We stayed here on our very 1st asian trip 17 years ago and it appears that not much has been done to the property in the last 17 years!
Thailand is known as the land of smiles and rightly so as usually Thai people are so gracious and always pleasant.. it seems that this has not been relayed to most of the staff at the Regent, service with a smile has certainly not reached this hotel.... There were a couple of staff who were attentive and smiled but on the whole i would say that the ratio was not great!
The pool guy threw the towels at me on both mornings when i went to get pool towels .. not really something you expect!
The serving staff were not much better, My friend ordered a meal at Sakuna (thai restaurant) for her 10 year old daughter and after waiting 40 minutes we asked when the food would arrive, as we had all eaten.. the waitress then said "Oh very big sorry, chef said no longer available" mmm would have been nice had she told us that the chef said not available!!! we then had to wait another 25 minutes for a club sandwich as a replacement.
Ordered coffee at the beach restaurant and after 40 minutes went to ask where it was only to be told "Oh sorry i forgot"!!!!! Now dont get me wrong i admit sometimes things go wrong but this hotel seems to have a whole catalogue of errors
Watching all the Asians (and i am not being mean) spit in the pool was enough to keep me from swimming and listening to grandma clear her throat every 2 seconds is not my idea of an idyllic beach holiday!! The breakfast was filled with cheap meats and cheese slices and the breads were not so fresh.
We stayed in a villa and while it was spacious we were over run by Wood Louse, i had to call housekeeping to bring me some spray and i have to admit the lady who came was really nice and sprayed and brushed them all up and assured me that they would spray again the following morning! The shower constantly backed up so you were standing in 3-4 inches of water each time you showered.
My husband played golf twice and had a hotel car booked twice for the different courses and on both occassions he missed his tee off due to the drivers not knowing where the courses were???? I have been to Cha-Am and Hua Hin around 8-10 times in the past couple of years and even i know where these courses are! I think if you have a driver then the driver must know where they are going before they set off!
I would like to say that i would go back.. but with so many better places and better staff i think i might give it a miss, though never say never!!!

Dear Kris71,

Thank you for your comments concerning the Regent Cha-Am Beach Resort. I am very sorry to learn that your stay was eventful in the negative sense.

On behalf of the Regent Cha-Am Beach Resort, I do sincerely apologise for the various inconveniences you experienced including our personnel who were not as attentive as they should have been. I would like to advise that we are in the process of refurbishing all of our rooms and as you may appreciate, being a large property, we are doing this slowly to ensure that guests' stays are not disrupted. Many aesthetic improvements were also made, the most prominent being the lobby. If you remember, as far back as 17 years ago, our lobby was not as trendy or contemporary; it was more traditional. You may also notice that there is a certain colour theme to the resort now. We try to use more colourful light happy pastel colours such as orange, light blue and light green, instead of the previous warm earth tones. There are also a lot more flower displays.

As for the Anavana room, we will make out utmost to ensure that the presence of insects are minimised, if not eliminated. This is admittedly especially tricky for the beach cabanas. We used to have electrical insect repellent mats to help get rid of the insects however some of our guests were allergic to the chemicals. Natural repellents such as lemon grass and citruses unfortunately don't do the job as well. Our latest experiment is to try essential oils and aroma treatments; we hear good things about it and it is a natural chemical free technique. I'd like to add that we usually warn our guests who book the Anavana rooms about insects and if this is something a guest does not want to cope with, we generally advise that guests stay in the main buildings instead.

We have also launched staff training to ensure that the level of service is consistent and thoughtful, especially when it comes to being attentive and caring for the needs of all guests come rain or shine. In recognition for our need to maintain professional and friendly services, I wonder if we can entice to come back again some time in the future for the weekend as a "mystery quality control guest" where we will be more than happy to host you and your family's stay. During this time, we would like your honest input on whether our level of services have improved.

At your next stay, at our invitation, we can definitely ensure that the shower will not fill-up with water. I think this is definitely one of the absolute do-ables.

Please do write back to advise whether you will be interested to re-evaluate our services some time in the future.

And once again, we do appreciate and thank you for your directness in reviewing our resort. It is the best way for any property to remind themselves to maintain the quality service levels.

Most sincerely,

Kritsana Boungam

The Regent that used to be Holiday Inn is now back under The Old Regent organization.
Went to the Coffee shop where we uses to get a nice cup of coffee when it was Holiday Inn.
Now you get a fairly ordinary cup of coffee and no biscuit that always used to be served.it is still the same price.
The Regent complex looks worn out and old. There used to be a nice park type gardn where you walked to the Mini Mart and the Mini Golf course.
All that has now gone a nd fenced off with a horrible very high green hoarding advertising new condo's called "Rain".
What a stupid name.
The c orner has now become dangerous for both cars and walking people. It is Soi Suan Son ioi Phetkasem Road where the Regent Villas are.
Also recently thay have started driving in the foundations. So not much peace.

Dear rosievictoria,

Thank you for choosing the Regent Cha-am Beach Resort for our holidays. As you rightly mentioned, there has been a fair bit of change to the property. I thought I should point out that the apartment project across the resort is not part of the property's complex. This has been taken over by real estate developers. The work here is estimated to be complete by the end of the year. With the resort now in the management of the owner's hands, we are trying very hard to update the property which as you may appreciate could take some time as we are doing this gradually so that guests' stays are not disrupted. Quite a few of the rooms now look brand new and we do hope you will decide to visit us again to experience the new improvements yourself.

Looking forward to your return to the Regent Cha-am Beach Resort with a bright smile.

Firstly, I would like to thank the hotel staff and all who work at Regent Beach Cha am.

Thai people are renowned for their politeness and smiles, this was evident on our stay June 18-26th. The room was great overlooking the gardens. Good size and with nice wet room.

Breakfast was excellent with a great choice and brilliant service from the staff and always making time to make a fuss of our 6 year old son.

The grounds were maintained daily as was the room by house keeping. We really enjoyed our stay and would only say it would be great if the Wifi was free. But then if you venture out to the bars and restaurants its free wifi in most places.

It suited our needs for a quiet holiday as it wasn't that busy, so that suited us and after being In Turkey at a hotel with 2500 guests, this was just what we needed. Plus, great movies and kids channels on satellite tv.

Alll in all. would book again.

Room Tip: Depends on what your individual needs are.
