“different kind of temple”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014

This temple is different than most. a definite contrast between heaven and hell.
contrast between main temple which is very ornate looking compared to buildings behind which are quite simple in style.
Thought provoking

“A temple with a different”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 April 2014

After visiting temples in Bangkok and some in Chiang Mai itself, Wat Rong Khun is a temple with a different concept.
Most temples are purposed build for solemn religious ceremony. Wat Rong Khun is not a exception it's a operational religious building, but one which the kids/younger one will not feels bored in.
It's shows good and bad in modem characters that we all understands, like Terminators and other popular cultures characters.

Try searching for doraemon, Harry Potter, matrix on the wall. Better still look hard for Osama and G Bush too.

I would suggest that you hire a guide to understand the design concept behind the building

“Beautiful white temple”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

This temple makes a refreshing change from usual Thai temples as it is all white and not the usual bright golds, reds and greens. The grounds are 'unusual' as is some of the 'artwork' on display in and around it. The temple designer is an artist himself and also has a small gallery there. The public toilets are some of the nicest I have seen in Thailand.

“Just stunning - a must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014

All the reviews said to go early to avoid the crowds but we spoke to our homestay owner and she said to wait until the afternoon as all the arranged larger trips go in the mornings. We took her advice and hired a scooter which was perfect - there were still tourists there, I doubt there's a time when it's empty, but we were able to get loads of photos without anyone in the background. There's loads of places to eat/drink there and as with all places of religious interest, you need to wear respectable clothing. You probably only need an hour to walk around the whole place.

“Silver Temple and Golden Toilet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 April 2014

Temples are aplenty in Thailand but this is an architectural marvel combination of traditional and space age designs. Digital cameras can never project the shimmering silver and original shines of the building.
In a very bold move the toilets are in Gold and they are the cleanest you can find in Chiang Rai.
Dressed appropriately, covering the knees and shoulders, if you wish to enter the main shrine hall.
Ideal place for shutter bugs but ensure you have proper filters to project the white and the reflection under the sun.
A place never to be missed if you are in Chiang Rai besides the Doi Suthep Temple in Chiang Mai
