I understand that this was once the best hotel in Chiang Rai. It certainly is not any more. It has the air of a failing property. It seems to cater mainly to large numbers of Chinese. The huge hallways were empty, the arcade of shops empty. There was no tourist information desk. The main Island cafe was not very good. The upmarket restaurant was deserted and the Chinese restaurant scarcely used. Drinks were comparatively expensive
The rooms, particularly the bathrooms, were showing their age.

However, on the plus side, the pool was huge and the hotel is set in lovely grounds which were well maintained.
Having made all these comments

Room Tip: The hotel is secluded but the best views would be from the higher floors.

Excellent place to stay. A little out of town, however tuk-tuks are cheap enough and can be ordered from front desk staff (about 100bht to go into town) daily breakfast is provided and there is a lot to choose from, very, very good quality and quantity. The whole resort is amazing, very clean and staff are super friendly. Laundry was a little expensive as they charge per item and depending on items the price changes. For 18 items we paid $54AUS, find a laundromat in town that does it per kilo and you will pay a lot less ( in saying this, clothes were clean, ironed and all hung/folded ready for wearing). I would highly recommend staying at the Dusit Island Resort is you are after 5star.

Large rooms with many amenities including robes, slippers, kettle and coffee makings, safe and good toiletries. Huge pool and lovely walk around property. High marks for the Hungry Wolf's located just to the left of the hotel driveway - app 5 minute walf. Great alternative to eating at the hotel.

This is a lovely resort complex on its own small island. The rooms are comfort and the staff are friendly and attentive. The grounds are lovely with garden areas, a beautiful pool with outside bar area. There is a nice walking trail. The food has been great with something for every palate. Have stayed two nights and wished we were staying longer.
