“Stunning Thai Food”
Reviewed 9 February 2013

This restaurant was recommended by the nice folks at Chiang Rai ATV, it's a few kilometres outside of town and caters for bus trips of 100's of diners, but don't let that put you off. The food is first rate, sizzling hot plate beef in Hong Kong sauce was spectacular. Well worth a short taxi ride.

“Yummy Chinese and Thai Food”
Reviewed 5 February 2013

Aekocha is a old restaurant in Chiang Rai. They serve you for boil rice, sauteed vegetable and soup with a tasty. Price for some menu are quite high but most of them are reasonable. Overall is very good to have my nice dinner here.

“Aekocha is a local treasure in Chiang Rai.”
Reviewed 31 January 2013

Service was great, food excellent, location superb, atmosphere inviting. They didn't "baby" us with "baby Thai', otherwise known as farang food. It was real Thai spicy. I had shrimp, but menu was diverse. We were lucky to have Jermsak to show us this place. Prices very reasonable. My only negative was that they served Chang "export" beer, which is not as tasty as regular Chang beer...Hope to return to Aekocha.

“What a treat”
Reviewed 15 January 2013

This is a very local restaurant but worth it. The food is superb and the service is above and beyond. We had a large group so they put us in a room all by ourselves with two staff members. They quickly seated the group and then got us drinks. Our guide ordered the food for us and all of his choices were excellent. Even the green curry which most of us found to be a little too spicy. The two staff members stayed in our room the entire time we were there and there was nothing they would not do for us. As we were leaving, the one staff member who appeared to be in charge asked me why we were leaving. She seemed genuinely sad when I told her we were heading home in a few days and that is why we were going. However, i did promise, I would be back. You won't be disappointed if you go to Aekocha.

“A Great Local Authentic Thai Restaurant”
Reviewed 13 January 2013

What an excellent find this was. We had not visited this local Thai restaurant previously and went on the advice of our guide and friend, Jermsak. We were a group of 14 and were provided with a private room. We ordered 7 or 8 different dishes to share and they were all phenomenal. We had two wait staff who were in the room continually and provided superb service. This is a favorite restaurant for Chiang Rai Thai locals and it is unusual to see Western tourists. If you want an authentic Thai dining experience at very reasonable prices with excellent food, give this place a try.

When the Green Curry dish came it was a bit spicy for us, as it was obviously geared toward local taste. Jermsak remarked "hmmm...I thought they might have noticed you were all foreigners." That gave us all a good laugh, but even though spicy, this was excellent curry.

The restaurant might be hard to find for a Western tourist so you may want to call for directions. The phone is 053-712543, although you would probably need to have a guide or other Thai speaking person call, as few people who worked at the restaurant spoke English. They do have a website at www.aekocha.com.

Definitely worth a visit.
