Reviewed 28 November 2012

Had a great time at the Wangcome hotel, it is very central and within walking distance of many restaurants, bars and shops, also very close to the clock tower and night market.
Don't miss the clock tower show at 7 pm each night.
Rooms are very clean, have comfortable beds with clean white sheets and nice, quiet air conditioning.
Bathroom is well stocked with essentials and has a great shower with lots of pressure and hot water if needed. TV has about 20 channels but only a few in English, had CNN news and a couple of movie channels.
Tea making facility with complementary water in room, also mini bar/fridge.
Staff are always pleasant and ready to help.
Hotel has a no smoking policy and has a large balcony on each floor for those that need to smoke as no rooms have individual balconies.
Swimming pool was the only disappointment, I never saw anyone use it and it sits in the centre of the hotel always in the shade.
Internet connection very good, for some reason the password only lasts 5 hours, but wifi quick.
Breakfast was fantastic with a great choice and plenty of staff to help.
Booked via Agoda and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Even numbers face the pool, odd numbers have a street view which I preferred.

This hotel is well located and has a great breakfast. The way I would describe the hotel is that when it was first built (probably around the 70's or 80's) it would have been one classy hotel, though now, even though it was clean and tidy, it is showing it's age. Walking down the hallways give the impression you are on a ship with the low ceilings and doors to rooms everywhere. Having said that, I would still recommend staying there, it is value for money well located to the night markets and other attactions. Oh, didn't like their big thick pillows.

The hotel is walking distance from the night market and city center. I enjoyed my stay here.

I could not count how many times I have stayed in this hotel over the last 7 years, because I travel to Chiang Rai often. True, the rooms do appear dated, but they are always spotless. Bathrooms are stocked and there is plenty of hot water with great pressure. The buffet breakfast is included and there is something for everybody, from kao tom to eggs and bacon to cereal to fresh fruit and juices. The lobby was just renovated and the staff, who have been there for years, are friendly and helpful. You can walk across the street where the restaurant under the big sala in the night bazaar is surprisingly good. If you have an eye for unusual finds, sometimes in the night market you can see an Akha or a Mon lady selling wares that you may not find in Chiang Mai. And I have always found the prices at this hotel quite reasonable. I don't stay anywhere else.

Really lovely hotel within walking distance of the night markets - great square to go get dinner from and watch a free ladyboy show. also some awesome bars just alongside and behind the hotel so location is a plus.
Hotel really clean and comfortable, fridge, aircon etc.
Nice breakfast in the morning - eggs, bacon, pastry, juice
WOuld definitely stay there again

We have stayed at several places in hotels in Chiang Rai over the last 5 years usually in the low budget end!
Wangcome is a 3 star in comparison to other countries, but it is clean, predictable, very central to the night market and mainstreet and they are trying hard, main foyer was in the middle of being upgraded when we stayed, hopefully is finished by now.
They need to upgrade their website!
Buffet breakfast is an attraction for me, good mix of asian and western food all you can eat!

Room Tip: As long as your not next to a lift most rooms okay
