Wow, I would definitely recommend everyone passing through to visit here. It is not a fancy museum with interactive exhibits but well worth it for all the information. I went with my five year old daughter and there was just enough interesting things to see to keep her busy and small enough that she could go through at her rapid pace and then come back to find me while I tried to read everything. I was thoroughly engrossed in the information on the opium trade. I wish there had been a little more info on the hill tribes but there are quite a few of them so maybe I couldn't have absorbed much more. This really is a worthwhile cause and even though the exhibit is rustic and low key, well worth the time.

The museum it self is poor cuality wise. Dont expect any interactive, sound and touch type of screens etc. It is a very "homemade" like. Said that the content is complete and very interesting to see and experience, before starting your visit to the tribes in the north of Thailand. We foreigners can read the guide before we go but this gives you a ver simple and clear knowledge of their reality and explained by them. Visiting the museum will help them continue the project.

This gets a "just OK" from us. Not sorry we spent the time, but would not go out of our way to see it. Very little information, the displays seemed to repeat themselves.

This is a special place to be stuck in during a torrential thunderstorm. In addition to informing visitors of the plight of hill Tribes, its volunteer staff work to educate them in adjusting to a modernising society.
The centre displays and sells their crafts. There is an excellent restaurant downstairs called "cabbages and condoms"
But back to the thunderstorm. It was so intense that we asked at the desk if they could call us a cab. The lass spoke no english,so the director of the center offered us a lift to our hotel. What ,a godsend!!.

Its an educational resource rather than entertainment. Do watch the video. Have your lunch downstairs.
