On arrival at 4pm we were greeted by apparently Sophie's partner who gave us tea out of a cup with still coffee in it, smiled and after having said " a demain" disappeared. There we were an elderly couple amidst many many animals and an old elephant of 70 years . Nobody bothered to show us our hut or anything. We found out eventually ourselves with help of our driver. No ventilation. The whole valley was full of smoke( farmers burning their ground), it was very hot and the smoke did not disappear. One could hardly breath. The " restaurant" was dirty and we decided we did not want to stay there any longer and certainly not stay the night, so we left with our driver. Sophie apparently was in chiang Rai and would only return around 7 or 8 pm, so we were told.
Conclusion: there maybe many people who consider this paradise but not us. Good thing: thai apache cares a lot about animals. We do too. We have adopted 10 stray dogs and really love animals. But this was not the place for us.
Thai Apache Guest House is something I've not seen elsewhere. I find it quite pleasant. I love the atmosphere which is very serene, very calm, very peaceful, relaxing and refreshing because there are the beautiful landscape, the beautiful nature, the mountains, the rice fields, bamboo bungalow with a small balcony gives you great views of surrounding nature. No electricity, oil lamps used, see a lot of stars in the night sky, a unique opportunity to stay in a traditional Mongolian yurts in Chiangrai, the bathrooms with shower and western toilet, the gentle animals especially two gentle elephants named Melanie and Gypsie, the alternative elephant trekking in the jungle and the bamboo restaurant serving delicious local cuisine. Sophie and her family are very welcoming and very friendly. That is very nice. 'I enjoy' as the English people say!
Apache guesthouse is the perfect place for relaxing in the North of Thailand. The place is very beautiful, full of animals and plants. Sofhie, the owner and her Karen ethnia family are very nice and kind. The food is delicious and cheap. Is it possible to see two elephants there who lived with Sophie.
Tha atmosphere in the place is really perfect. I reccommend to stay here.
Thai Apache Guest House outside Chiang Rai up the Mae Kok river shows, that simple things also can be 5 stars. Sophie from France lives here together with here Karen husband and his parents. They are surrounded by all their animals and a beautiful nature. Apache GH is almost at the end of a little road. Cars can drive up there. On the fields the cows and water buffaloes are grassing.
I have now been at Apache GH 3 times. In my bamboo bungalow there was all, I could need: Mosquito net, a western style toilet and a shower. There is only cold water and no electricity. So oil lamps are used. There is also a nice, little balcony with great views. Apache GH also have a little restaurant. There are 3 km´s to the nearest village with a few local shops.
If you on the internet search: Thai Apache Guest House Chiang Rai, you will find it.
Besides the beautiful nature the hospitality and the atmosphere at Apache GH is great. Are you to nature, animals and simple things, Apache GH is a wonderful place and so peaceful.
The only sounds are from the animals and the nature.
