“Amazing Hotel - will definitely return”
Reviewed 23 September 2011

Currently staying at Cape Nidhra in a sky deluxe pool suite and it has exceeded our expectations.Having our own pool has really made our holiday. We are in 2nd block on 2nd (top)level and privacy is fine. you are overlooked by higher 1st block but only if people standing and looking over. We've not found it a problem at all. you also get the sun from 12pm onwards and although we've had some showery rain at times we have still sunbathed most of the day.
the room has everything you need and is well designed with a massive bathroom, comfy bed and the daybed on the deck is bliss>good coffee/tea machine and well stocked minibar>Sky tv and ipod docking station are great too.My only niggly complaint is lack of lighting where the coffee machine is!Also no iron in room or available to use to encourage guests to use the hotel pressing service. We bought an iron from Tesco in Market Village for £5 for convenience. The hotel is on the main rd (petchakesem rd) right opposite the Grand Plaza night market and there is taxi's/tuk-tuk;s outside too, You can walk to main night market and centre of town in about 15 mins or 100 baht in a tuk-tuk in the heat of the day. The private pool has made the holiday for us and we will definitely return. A basic hotel room will just not be the same in future! this is our 6th time to Cha-am/Hua Hin and every time we discover new things. Shopping and eating out are fab...you have the choice of 3 main night markets in town, the Market village shopping complex and also the Hua Hin shopping mall and lots of other small shops. Eating out at the markets or in restaurants is still really cheap with dinner and a couple of drinks averaging about £10 and the quality of food on offer is excellent. We've had Thai of course but also /McDonalds and Italian and we still have 7 nights to go. If you're thinking of booking Hua Hin- go for it.I;m sure you wont be disappointed

Stayed for 5 nights and the rooms and customer service was excellent.
This is a new small hotel with large rooms in an idyllic setting.
We had a Sky pool suite which opened onto a large balcony with a small pool which was ideal for taking a dip to cool down away from the heat.
The breakfast was also very good.

Room Tip: good central location

Having reviewed all the positive comments, I chose to stay in this hotel for 2 nights after staying at another hotel in Hua Hin. However, I have expereinced the following disappoinments:

1. The night before we moved to Cape Nidhra, my first hotel was kind enough to call Cape Nidhra to enquire when we could check-in on the following day, and the response was that we could check-in at 1pm. Finally, we arrived at Cape Nidhra at around 2pm (i.e. normal check-in time), and the reception staff told me that our room was not yet available and needed another 40 minutes!! 40 minutes! Her explanation was that they had a big group of travellers check out that day! Was that a resonable excuse?? Didn't the hotel know in advance how many travellers are checking in or out everyday?? The reception also said that they were now cleaning the washroom and as the size of washroom is big, thats why they did more time!! I expressed my dissatisfaction, and the reception staff made a call and then said that another 20 minutes would do! Did it imply that the washroom was not thoroughly cleaned??

2. My friend stepped on the carpet inside the room and suddenly felt a little hurt with some blood, and it was a broken plastic glass! We called immediately the front desk and they sent a staff to our room with first aid box. He apologized. That's all! Shouldnt they have a formal apology from the management and gave us an explanation whats that plastic glass and where did it come from? Maybe they should need another that extra 20 minutes to clean our room?

3. We borrowed an ipod nano from the hotel and found that it was not functioning, we called and they sent a staff to us bring another ipod nano, and unfortunately, neither of them was working! This was only a small problem though.

The hotel itself has a great swimming pool with superb view, very relaxing to spend time there. We did enjoy the swimming pool alot. The breakfast is also up to standard. Private pool in the room was thought to be a selling point but turned our that we did not enjoy it very much, partly because of the temperature of the water and partly because of the low privacy.

Thank you for your feedback. Our check-in time is 14.00 hrs and we have a strict policy of adhering to this time to avoid disappointment and confusion. I cannot speak for what the other hotel told you but I checked with our front office management and they have no recollection of speaking to another hotel about your check-in. I can only assume some kind of miscommunication took place.

I apologise that you were not able to check-in directly at 14.00 hrs. However, the issue was not that we had too many guests checking out but rather that some of these guests were late in leaving their rooms. Unfortunately, this meant that your check-in was delayed for half an hour and we, again, apologise for this.

The incident you reported on the evening of the second night of your stay regarding cutting your foot was noted in our Incident Report by the staff member who attended your call and provided the plaster. The cut was made by what the staff member believed was part of a cocktail stirrer that was lodged in the carpet. The duty manager informed me of the incident the next day and I came to see you regarding the incident but you had already checked out. I apologise for not seeing you sooner. As for the iPods, our staff have checked all of them thoroughly and they are all in working order so I am not sure what the problem was with the ones given to you but once again I apologise for this inconvenience.

We returned from Hua Hin a week ago, having spent 10 days at Cape Nidhra. The rooms are great, & the service from the staff was excellent.

However, this is not a disabled friendly hotel. My wife walks with a stick, & there are a lot of steps in the resort. Fourteen up to reception, & the same number back down the other side. The hotel is long & narrow, & again there are many steps up to the restaurant/ pool area. There are no handrails for support on any of the steps, & my wife was only able to walk up & down these steps, by holding onto my arm for support.

Once in the pool area, there are more steps down to the beach, & again, no handrails are installed. Should you have to use a wheelchair, then you really have no chance, as the only lifts are the ones that take you to floors where the bedrooms are.

The hotel do not mention anything about the difficulties for disabled guests in their brochure. or website.

We had also asked for a double room, but when we checked in, we were given a room with twin beds pushed together. When I complained about this, reception said that they could do nothing until the next day as all the Skypool deluxe rooms were fully booked. However, we were moved the following day to a room in the 1st block on the 4th floor, room 1403 I think, & it was ideal.

There have been some comments about the lack of privacy, but the room we were in was fine. The outside had both a retractable awning, & side blind should you really want to be screened off from your neighbours.

We only had breakfast at the hotel which was very good with plenty of choice for everyone.

At the back of the hotel, the beach was deserted, unlike the area near the Sofitel which was busy.

If you walked onto the beach & turned right for about a 100 yards or so, you could buy barbecued sweetcorn, fresh fruit & coconuts from a guy sat under an umbrella. He is based at the back of The Marriott. For lunch one day, we had 2 x sweetcorn, 2 x fresh mangoes, a bunch of bananas, & 2 x coconuts for about 200 Bhat.

This is a lovely hotel which we would recommend, but they do need to sort out the steep steps which is why we have given them 4 stars, not 5.

stayed at the hotel for two weeks in august. nice hotel with access to the beach, clean rooms, very nice food and friendly staff (very kind to our baby son!). otherwise, seems the place needs more time to settle in. waiters around the pool difficult to find (let alone anyone ever asks you if you would like a drink/food), spa closed once for foto shoot, been to gym twice without anyone there, reception can show you a catalogue from tour operators (but can't recommend anything) and there is a lack of english knowledge (including chef at cooking class) that makes communication more difficult still. overall average place that could do with more english speakers and more 'want to help' attitude. would recommend if you stay for a few days without kids and just want a nice clean room and good food.

Room Tip: none of the rooms have beach access. take a room on the second floor there will be less mosquito aro...

We Stayed 9 Nights in The Cape Nidhra The Room was very nice and big. Everything was new, nice and very clean. The breakfast was very good. Fruits, bread, cakes and eggs. Everything was very tasty and from a very good quality. Pool is very nice, refreshing and with direct Connection to The beach. If something is missing ... Just ASK for it or take it with a smile ... You are in Thailand. The hotel is very close to all the restaurants, the night markets and all what you should see and visit in Hua Hin. You can even walk along the beach to the TAO KIAB Temple with some Monks and a Lot of apes. We recommend to visit the very nice Cape Spa. Very nice and clean and good therapists.

What a beautifully designed hotel. One of the newest 5-star hotel in Hua Hin. The service is impeccable. We enjoyed the breakfast very much, and had a truly lovely time walking on the beach. (From the front, you can walk all the way to the colonial-style hotel of Centara and beyond.) We stayed in the Sky Pool room, and could not find any faults with its design. Very, very well conceived. Love this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for the room toward the beach. There are a few buildings you can choose from.
