We are currently 6 days into our 7 day stay at Cape Nidhra.
The first thing to comment on is how beautifully designed this small hotel is. Everything has sharp clean lines and as the resort is new, you can see the effort going in to ensure everything stays looking its best.
The rooms are lovely, very spacious, and the bathroom is everything you could want in a wet room. If I could take the design of the bathroom home with me I would!! A lot of thought has gone into the product and it shows. Although we are quite close to the reception and front of the hotel we get no noise from the main road.
As with anything there are a few negatives. The outside private pool is a wonderful idea, we thought we would use it lots but as it happens the water is very cold, and our pool got no sunshine throughout the day. With no sun, it wasn't such a appealing perk. I think this is a flaw in the design of the rooms and as such we have only used it once.We were in room 113 on the ground floor. Another quite large problem is the gap in the doors leading outside to the pool. For some reason the doors don't fully meet when closed leaving a very sizeable gap which allows Mosquitos to get in.
We have been bitten to an inch of our lives here, and although we take measures with room plug in's and repellant sprays wherever we go, it makes no odds as they come in and bite you whilst your sleeping. I think this needs to be looked at quite seriously. A previous comment on here from the management suggests you can ask the hotel for a electronic plug in device for your room, this is something not advertised anywhere, and perhaps should be put into all rooms as a matter of course. Not sure if it would make a difference with the door gap, but at least it would perhaps help.
In terms of amenities we have drank every night at the Rocks bar. Again great potential but always empty. No one seems to drink there. They do advertise a happy hour every evening between 5-7 but this is not genaniline interest. The gin and tonics are delicious, the view and scenery romantic, but with hardly anyone using it it lacks ambience. The restaurant is also very quiet, everyone goes out to eat. We enjoyed a very good meal at the restaurant. We decided to eat there once. The menu is very limited and has not changed all week, so again it would be good to change it round daily as it may encourage people to eat there more. It is also quite expensive so perhaps they need to try and do something on price to encourage people to stay in rather than go out as the local restaurants are superb and very cheap. We have had no cocktail evenings as described by other reviewers or any attempt to try and get guests to interact. Perhaps a BBQ evening with cocktails would be an idea.
The pool is great, lovely to use and has an area with jet sprays which massage your back and legs- heaven! Never had a problem with getting a sunbed and the guy who looks after this area is really lovely and helpful and always has as smile on his face.
This hotel is gorgeous and has such great potential but they need to look more at the customer service. The staff here are simply some of the nicest and friendliest you will meet but they lack the finesse of a 5 star standard. There have been many comments on this and it's important for the hotel to react to this to get this place to where it deserves to be.
Many cannot speak or understand English so there are frequent misunderstandings. The number of times we have ordered tea and coffee at breakfast to be brought 2 coffees or 2 teas. Said yes to a beer by the pool which has never arrived...... Just a few examples They will always try and find someone who can understand you, by which point you could have repeated yourself 3 or more time to 3 different people.
I would stay at this hotel again, but perhaps wait a while until they get the services and service to the 5 stars advertised.
