I have stayed here on three occasions and have never been disappointed. The guest house is relatively new which means the rooms & bathroom facilities are all very clean. This is in contrast to most of the older guest houses close by, which are now very tired looking.
The rooms are small, but all have a little balcony which can be used for storing empty suitcases etc.
The place is run by a nice couple who can speak a little English which helps, and they are very accommodating.
It's on a side street, but is very close to both the "girlie bar area", and the seafood restaurants that stretch out into the water. Even the night market is only 5 mins walk away. The location means you will get a peaceful nights sleep.
I would have given it 5 stars, but recently the owner is building an extension to the side of the hotel to add more rooms, which does mean some building noise can be heard during the day, (although he tells me it will be complete by October 2013). It has also caused the reception area to be used for temporary storage, detracting from the initial visual impression.
I paid 800 bht, which I think varies slightly by season - this to me, represents the going rate, for the area, and not a bargain. I'm told the extension will have bigger rooms, and I presume a higher cost to match, so if price is of importance, u should compare others in the area first.
The place has Wifi throughout, and you can rent motorbikes from the owner.
I will definitely be staying there again providing the price stays sensible.
