“Good clean resort with personalized attention!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2013

Very pleasant stay for me my wife and two infants here for 5 nights! Everything was well taken care and personal attention given like food for infants etc. beach is not so good but you really don't have to go to beach here! Nice rooms though lagoon room a bit small with 2 infants to handle! Lively and lovely place will be back!!!

We stayed at this hotel for 8 nights in July. Lovely beachfront property with beautiful gardens. The pool is lovely. We had a deluxe garden room which was very spacious and clean. Towels and beds changed regularly. The breakfast was lovely with plenty to choose from. Hotel tends to get busier at weekends. Food at hotel very good. Staff very friendly. Never used the spa. Hotel outside hua hin but hotel runs a bus at 50 baht per person. Only downside was the mosquito bites we got but only to be expected with the lovely gardens. Really enjoyed our break here very relaxing.

- the property and garden is beautiful and naturally done, it is really their asset

- check-in process was not pleasant maybe only related to the girl who helped us. we booked a deluxe garden view room and was offered to upgrade Baht 1500/room night to premium seaview room. We were interested in seeing the options and the room we booked. Somehow the process was very messy. We were led to a room which was supposed to be our booked room but it was not tidy up and then the lady showed us the seaview room which was on the ground floor very dark and humid, with a narrow seaview in between other hotel rooms. it was not impressive to pay for the upgrade. We thought of seeing our room but the lady did not have a master key to another deluxe room (since the one they wanted us to have was still not tidy up). we had to wait and then we got into the room 206. which in a way similar to the seaview room we just saw except missing the narrow seaview and the bathroom is old. We did not want to spend extra for a small difference.

- pool: looked nice but it was just busy there. always with kids and teenagers, we did not use the pool except passing by to the breakfast restaurant

- Food: was good, if you do not mind paying a bit more compare to outside, it's nice to stay in the hotel.

- spa : mhm... the massage was very good. but the room I went to does not has shower facility... wasn't really expect a 5-star spa doesn't come with a shower / restroom until it was too late (left alone to change clothes... but at least the girl has asked me if I wanted to use a rest room on the way to my room, luckily I did that). you might want to ask for a room which has shower if you prefer to take shower before / after the spa. I assume other rooms have shower??? not sure.

- wifi: free and workable wifi only possible in lobby area (library and the bar next to it) ... the logon is not automatic after you have used once. the hotel room also offers 30 mins free daily but the speed is so slow which is not really workable. restaurants do not have free wifi.

Room Tip: Room 206 not really recommendable... the bathroom does not separately the toilet and the shower. Th...

The Anantara is a very nice beachfront property, great for family get-aways. The lush green grounds are a treat, and in fact the beauty of the hotel is in all the outdoor locations including the pool. Not much of a beach - just a narrow strip of sand at high tide, and not much more even otherwise. But you can recline atop the beachfront wall and gaze out on the sea for hours! Of course you would be better off spending your time at the large pool.

We were careful to plan to be there during the week as we had been advised that it gets crowded on Fri / Sat / Sun, and it turned out to be good advice.

This is the place to go if you just want to relax by a nice pool and do nothing!

Unfortunately the rooms are in urgent need of refurbishment and renovation - specially the plumbing. I assume that they use re-cycled water, and am used to seeing brownish water in the WC of many hotels, however, the water that came from the taps was anything from pale brown to actual black!!! Tried to draw this to the attention of the housekeeping folk, but they obviously could not speak English, and all they said was OK, OK. Still alive now, a few days after the trip, but it was still not a pleasant experience. Even apart from this, the bath fittings, plumbing, hot water etc all need to be modernised.

The buffet breakfast was not bad, but not good by Thailand standards - in terms of variety and quality. Maybe it gets better on weekends when there are more people?

The front office team was friendly and useful. The lady who received us (think her name was Piani) was really nice and helpful. They arranged cabs whenever we needed them, and briefed the drivers about where we need to go (these cabs look like regular cars - all shapes and sizes, and are not metered, so it is useful to have someone to help out). The rate for a one way trip into Hua Hin town (night market) is Thani Baht 150 - thats even cheaper for a family of four than the hotel shuttle for which they charge Baht 50 per head.

Mosquitoes are a BIG problem here, because of all the lush greenery.

Room Tip: Obviously the best rooms are the sea facing ones, so obviously you pay more for these. You would be...

Stayed here for one night. Room was nice and clean but a bit on the small side.
Balcony is a nice feature with the problem of mosquitos, so the time outside was shortcut :(
Waterfront is not what I expected high sea wall and no beach.
Pool and pool area is very nice and staff friendly and helpful.

Breakfast Buffet is outstanding

getting to town is a bit of a hassle if you don't have your own car.

Beachfront hotel on the airport side of Hua hin approx 5 k out of town. Good pool area and nice decorative features throughout. We had a sea view room with a nice balcony. Generally quiet in the week but more crowded at weekends when Hua Hin fills up with trippers from Bangkok. Staff very pleasant, helpful and friendly. Small but well equipped gym. Nice and well maintained gardens. Would happily stay here again

We took the upgrade to a bigger room which has its own private balcony overlooking the lagoon. With 2 kids sharing upgrade is a good option. Extra bed is free of charge with the upgrade. Also got free flow of wine and free snacks between 4pm to 5pm with the upgrade. I must say it is very green and a great place for a break, away from busy bangkok.

The pool has a nice bar and the service at the pool area is also very good. There was a long queue at the breakfast but surprisingly did not have to wait long. Breakfast is good and very conveniently located next to the pool area.

I would say one of the finest resorts in Hua-Hin. Top Class Service.

The 187-room Anantara Resort Hua Hin is a distinctive Thai village-style property located on the sunrise coast of the Gulf of Thailand, around 220 kms south of Bangkok. Hidden amidst 14 acres of luxuriantly landscaped gardens and lagoon pools, the picturesque resort enjoys a beachfront location at the quiet end of Hua Hin's long sandy beach for only 5 kms. from Hua Hin town centre. A three-meters high terracotta wall cleverly cocoons the resort from the hustle and bustle of town. As you make your way along the landscaped driveway, a sense of calm descends. The sense of arrival is heightened as you admire a decorative wall adorned with a parade of elephants. A cool breeze drifting in from the beach floats through the open-air Lobby with the strains of a melodic Thai tune lingering. Polished timber floors and Thai-style salas (pavilions) heighten the ambience of an intimate tropical hideaway. ... more   less
