A family of four we travelled to Hua Hin via Dubai, with Etihad airways, after a seemingly endless journey we finaly arrived at Bangkok and were met by our private pr-arranged taxi.Good Move. we were expecting it to be hot, but it was seriously hot and we realised maybe May-June isnt the best time to travel to Thailand.3 hours later we arrived at the Anantara.
We were seriously impressed by the hotel and the very friendly staff, this is a Thai style hotel and very different to most western hotels, everything oozes, peace and quiet, very clean and tidy.
Breakfast was included in our deal and is well worth having even if you have to pay extra for, the selection was just awesome, whatever your taste you will find food that you enjoy. omlettes at the egg station cooked every different style you could wish for, a wide selection of hams and cheeses were always available, as was a variety of rice and noodles.
The rooms were large and comfortable with tea and coffee makeing facilities, including big heavy square mugs to drink it out of,would have preferred something a little more delicate , but hey it wasn`t a problem. each set of rooms had their own Patio which opened out onto a sort of jungle pond, dont even think of sitting there as the Mosquitoes are waiting for you to do just that. The hotel send a sort of ghost buster team out very early in the morning and spray them, but it makes absolutely no difference. Funny to watch though.
Because it was so hot I only saw two people actually sunbathing one day, I saw them later in the day looking very burnt. it was around 99-100 degrees F most days, most people spent the day huddled in the shade.
The hotelis not walking distance from Hua Hin, and the very fast dual carriageway outside is best avoided, it only cost 200Bahts to get a taxi, and is well worth it, taxis are plentiful,we always used reception to call one and they always appeared very quickly.
We only had dinner in the hotel once, I was not impressed and found the restaurant in Hua Hin a much better option, and of course much cheaper.we used a small hotel called the White Sands for lunch and as it was directly next door a couple of hundred yards down the beach very handy. the food was excellent.
The beach itself was rather disappointing, it was ok ,but there were pools of stagnant water and on two occasions we spotted signs of sewerage.if you wat to brave it, make sure you visit the massage girls, they are very good and very cheap £6 for one hour.
The hotel rep met us and was very pleasant and knowledgable, not pushy either, just gave us the facts of what was available.I said I wanted a hand made suit and was pointed in the direction of a reliable one, no a very good choice as it turned out. he told us he wanted 9500 Bahts and would not budge from this, we walked further down the road and ordered two for 5100Bahts each including a hand made shirt seriously nice suits, but a lot of haggling involved.
All in all a good holiday, an excellent hotel and staff but prefer a livlier location.

Room Tip: All the rooms I saw were good, if not insist reception move you.

Dear Billyboy252

Warmest Greetings from Anantara Hua Hin Resort and Spa.

Thank you for taking the time to post such positive comments on Trip Advisor about your recent stay.

We are very happy that you enjoyed your experience, in particular our breakfast at Issara Cafe, the hotel decor and the friendly hospitality during your stay.

We are also pleased that you enjoyed the room and were comfortable for what is becoming the hottest time of year in Thailand. The beach at this time of year is a shifting sandbar which can from time to time create small pools, however this is the case right across Hua Hin.

We have noted a few of your comments regarding the restaurants and mosquitoes, and will take them back to the team for further improvement. We are also pleased that even thought the recommendation for services in town was not the final option taken, that you appreciated the manner in which this recommendation was delivered.

Billyboy 252, once again thank you for the fantastic rating and comments on your stay with us, we look forward to welcoming you back to Anantara Hua Hin Resort and Spa or indeed another property in the region in the near future.

Kind Regards
Dan Smith

This is the first time we stayed in this hotel. We booked on the promotion site, and it really worth.
When we started to check in, the friendly staff, cute welcome drink and the cozy environment made us feel relaxed in a very short time. Without air condition, but the lobby still was very cool and the wind blew with tropical scents. We were pretty lucky to get upgraded to a bigger room w/ 2 queen size beds, which were very comfortable. the decoration of the room not luxury but the same style as the lobby ----cozy and relaxer.
the introduction of Thai fruit is useful and creative.
The swimming pool is also great, surrounded by rain forests make the sunshine just great.
The most important thing is there were several cats in the resort, one or two of them would join the breakfast, that reeaaaly made me feel like at home or even better. we always miss our cat when we are traveling, to have a chance to stay with cat is awesome! Thanks for the staffs were so kind to treat the cats and gave us very nice memory!!

Room Tip: There were shuttle to Hua Hin City (night market).

We stayed for 5 days at the resort from 20th May. The experience started as we arrived and were pampered in reception with drinks and exceptional service. We had booked a basic room but upgraded twice to a lagoon suite - great call. All meals were very good but we were able to have a quiet breakfast with extra trimmings.
The pool was good, the beach looked fine and again service in those places was excellent. Decor is imaginative and very relaxing
There is not a great deal to sightsee in the Hua Hin area so it was important that the hotel came up to standard and this definitely did.
According to my wife, the spa was one of the best she has ever been to
In answer to some previous criticism on the site, the band in the bar had a wide repertoire, knew their songs, spoke and sang correctly - not sure what else you can expect from what is really a relaxing band in a bar
As far as Happy Hour is concerned, there are 2 bars with different times of Happy Hour- it's nice to get happy Hour but that is only a small part of the overall experience which was great.
Not sure when I will be able to return to Thailand or Hua Hin but can't recommend the Anantara highly enough - I would love to go back
We did not notice the curfew in Thailand as the hotel had so much to offer

Anantara hotel is set in a very scenic tropical backdrop! Very pleasing to the eye and very tranquil.
The sea was a stone's throw away from the poolside. We had the best sleep during our holiday, the bed was so comfortable and very difficult to leave each day!! The staff were fantastic, the reception (they were very accommodating to let us check out a bit later) and breakfast staff were all courteous and friendly. We felt looked after by our chambermaid Arnon who left our room clean and tidy each day and little notes. He followed my requests to not change all our towels daily (this appears to be done despite the note in the room that states that the hotel's environmental contributions are to not add to the additional water wastage so towels will only be changed if the towels are placed in the bath).
The pool was fantastic and the hotel was not busy so there was always space to lie by the pool.
My only gripe is that for a luxury hotel there was no free wifi which I would of expected since there was free wifi in 2 star accommodation that I've stayed in. Aside from this we really enjoyed our stay and would visit again.

Dear Brackie2007

Warmest greetings from Anantara Hua Hin Resort and Spa.

The team and I thank you for taking the time to write such great comments on Trip Advisor regarding your stay with us.

We are very happy that you had a restful stay with us, with great sleep each night, and that you had a tranquil time at the beach and the closeby pool.

Our team also very much appreciate your comments on the small touches delivered each day around the hotel, and we will also ensure that Kh Arnon recieves your thanks for his attention during your stay.

We have noted your comments on the towels and we will take this back to the housekeeping team to enure we follow our policy more closely.

In addition your comments regarding complimentary WIFI have been noted. We have a complimentary GHA membership available, which is a loyalty program available to Anantara Hotels among others, and comes with complimentary WIFI when staying at our hotels.

Certainly, your comment regarding this could have been easily handled by the team, and we will review our information to ensure that these benefits are well communicated in the future.

Brackie2007, thank you once again for your fantastic comments and staying with us here at Anantara Hua Hin Resort and Spa.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

The welcome to this resort was acceptable, apart from being offered an upgrade room at an extra 2500 Baht. If I had wanted to pay that I would have already booked it! The room was ok apart from the bathroom. The bath would look more at home in the corner of a stables somewhere. How anyone could use such a bath is beyond imagination. On the plus side the bed was very comfortable and the balcony excellent. In the room the furniture was old and there was a lack of drawer space. Under the bathroom sink there was a wooden rack, purpose unknown but it was never dusted.
Breakfast environment was good, food selection average. The gardens were really nice but the gardener should be a bit more active to keep the foliage trimmed. Beach area was good
The star of the hotel is Alex the parrot!

Room Tip: Check the bathroom before you move in!

Dear Allheart

Greetings from Anantara Hua Hun Resort and Spa.

The team and I thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us.

Alex the Parrot is often the star of the show here at Anantara Hua Hin, he is a very colorful member of the team and a crowd favorite at breakfast time. He is a very unique host and we are very happy that you enjoyed his presence during the breakfast experience.

The gardens are also a highlight at the hotel and the gardeners take great pride in their appearence, however we are dissapointed you found them to be lacking some attention, and will pass this back to the team to ensure continuous improvement.

We are saddened that our usually warm welcome, which is often so very appreciated by other guests did not have the same effect. Our team do offer the chance to look at other room types before checking you in, as in many cases, the photo s and website are difficult to appreciate the different room types. I will take your comments back to the team, as this is not a hard sell, rather a chance to ensure we have the perfect room for your stay with us.

Our hotel will be going through some redecoration in the coming month in which we will be addressing the dated bathtubs in our delux room category, however our lagoon and premium rooms feature a terrazo bathtub which is a feature of these rooms.

The sIeep quality and beds are an Anantara brand feature, and we are very glad you had comfortable nights rest with us. I have also noted your other comments for the housekeeping team and have passed them on for continuous improvement.

Allheart, thank you once again for staying with us here at Anantara Hua Hin Resort and Spa.We hope to be able to welcome you back to the resort in the near future.

Kind Regards
