I spent three nights here with work on a weekend. The rooms are clean, decently sized and reasonably priced. The restaurant is simple but there are plenty of options within a 5 mins walk. Really close, like on top of, the night bazaar. Would recommend to anyone who does not need rock bottom prices or luxury comforts.

Room Tip: Recommend the backside as the front is over top of the lobby area which can get noisy as revelers st...

My experience differed greatly from that of the others who stayed here in the past. We experienced an ant infestation that, even after vacating our rooms and having them fumigated, proceed to persist. My overnight bag was crawling with them even after leaving the premises. If we had experienced even the slightest bit of an apology on the behalf of the staff then I could have overlooked the issue and just chalked it up as bad luck, but instead their unwelcoming attitude left a terrible taste in my mouth (as did the pesticide that they sprayed into my room). Yes, it is cheap, but you get what you pay for and, frankly, a kind and considerate staff that did their best to accommodate our less than stellar experience would have been appreciated. However, we were essentially ignored and scoffed at when we asked for the situation to be remedied.

It was lovely to be next to the night markets, but other than this small bonus I really see no reason to re-visit the SUB-PAR-mitra.

Room Tip: Just don't stay here!

My family live in Hua Hin and if there's no room at their house (quite often!) then I'll stay here. Have stayed here most years over the past 8.

Basic rooms (with fan or air con), very clean, friendly staff and a lovely little pool of their own. Within walking distance of everything you need - night market, beach, restaurants, bars, temple, shops!

Its getting slightly more expensive year on year which is to be expected but still fabulous value compared to UK hotels and also getting more and more popular so book in advance if you can or are going during peak seasons.

Oh and Hua Hin is beautiful.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks and I payed about 850 baht approx £14 pn, It's just off the mainroad that runs through Hua Hun, About 10 min walk to the beach.

The rooms are simple but very clean air-conditioned with access to the internet and with a TV, rooms facing to the front have a small balcony which was a great sun trap, The rooms don't have Safe's but the reception has safety Deposit Boxes which are good enough, The swimming pool area is not big but OK. There is a small restaurant area by the reception, You can also rent Motorbikes there also.

I contacted the hotel directly, Miss Pensan : 032 511208.

After 15 stays at the Subhamitra I suppose you could say I am biased in favour of the hotel but I have stayed at various other places previously and none can match the Subhamitra for good value, excellent friendly and courteous service, a nice swimming pool that is a rarity amongst hotels of the same price range, and good tasty food, both Thai and Western cuisine, served in the hotel's restaurant/coffee shop.
The accommodation is not luxurious but then you couldn't expect that for the prices you pay for the fan and air-con rooms that are always clean, well maintained, and bug free.
Although the restaurant is only open from 7.00am to 5.00pm night staff will gladly provide you with simple sandwiches, tea and coffee, at anytime if asked to do so.
Subhamitra Hotel is ideally located right in the centre of town with all amenities close by. Within 5 minutes walking distance in all directions you will find banks, small shops, larger shopping malls, air-con bus stations to and from Bangkok and further south to places like Phuket, restaurants serving foods from around the world as well as Thai, the open air night market and enclosed day market, police station, post office and telephone exchange, a small hospital dealing with mainly out-patients and a larger one a little further to the south. The temple is just across the main road that has to be crossed with care, Thai's are not the best of drivers! Behind the temple you will find numerous bars plus a few more restaurants. Unlike Pattaya though the bars in Hua Hin are restricted to an area behind the temple because the King of Thailand has a summer palace on the outskirts of town and is a frequent visitor to what he has admitted is his favourite place in all of Thailand. The beach is to be found about a ten minute walk away, depending on how fast you walk!
Just outside the hotel you will cars with drivers willing to take you anywhere for a price, even directly to Don Muang International Airport in Bangkok to get your flight home if you don't fancy getting the air-con bus back to the city and then across it by taxi or tuk-tuk to the airport. Before hiring one of the cars tell Ead or Jukkie, or anyone else in reception of the hotel, where you want to go and for how long, they will advise you on what's the most you should pay for the trip and time of your stay. As with other things in Thailand always haggle with the driver, starting at the lowest price you are willing to pay and usually meet them halfway between your lowest and their highest price.
If you fancy a foot or body massage just ask Ead in reception who is a fully qualified masseur in both. Foot massages are done in a quiet corner of reception, for body massages she will come to your room at a pre-arranged time. If you want something different she will book an appointment for you to go to the massage parlour that is run and managed by the blind, just behind Golden Place which sells organic foodstuffs. I have been there several times and can guarantee you will get a good, authentic Thai massage by someone who is blind. Prices are very low indeed which is why I always give a good tip.
Should you fancy learning some local skills Ead is the person for you for that as well. After finishing work she gives lessons for a small fee in art of flower arranging, basket weaving, making cheap jewellery, etc. These are held in the front grounds of the hotel on certain evenings.

I would heartily agree with the previous comments on the Subhamitra hotel- just stayed there for the unth time over the weekend (am based in Bkk) and would add bring your laptop next time! I booted mine to find the sunshine internet nearby had a clear signal at the hotel & found myself 'working' by the pool. The 'ol Subhamitra has unwittingly gone Hi tech; As always, nice folks there and always a pleasure to visit.

Cheers!
