For your money, you get what you pay for. All the basics, everything's clean, bed, shower, even a small roof top pool, quiet street, and just a short walk away from everything in Hua Hin. If you're looking for a quick over night stay, then why not?

We stayed three nights at Thipurai City Hotel leaving on New Year's Eve. Firstly, there is another hotel which shares the Thipurai name in Hua Hin but this is the Beach Hotel; I highlight this as out tuk-tuk driver took us there initially (they were excellent I must stress and rang up the City Hotel and confirmed our booking and then took us there themselves).

The Thipurai City Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the beach and has a small night market at the end of the soi as well as many bars and restaurants. The area itself is easily accessible on foot with nothing more than a 10-15 minute walk away.

We stayed in a standard room and paid £25 a night through agoda.com and this was good value. The staff were very polite and the room was fine. If I was going to be critical I could comment on the noise of the air con and that the shower, although powerful, was warm and not hot... but to be honest neither of these were an issue.

Free WI-FI was available for a total of two hours for our stay and we didn't eat in the hotel's restaurant which appeared to be a steakhouse venture. The swimming pool is small and to be honest we favoured the beach atmosphere down the road.

We stayed for 2 nights and found it a nice hotel. Rooms were clean and bright! It's location is on a small quiet soi but it's 5 minutes from everything. The beach, bar and restaraunt area and the markets.

It has offstreet parking although it can be tricky getting parked. The security guard is a great guide mind you. They also have a buffet breakfast which is good.

I've booked again for January! I like the location and the clean rooms with small balcony.

Very good hotel. Very reasonable rates. Right in the heart of the town. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean but basic. Would be good to have free wi-fi. Very good for golfing holidays. Have stayed here many times and would certainly recomend it.

Nice and clean downtown hotel, roof top swimming pool and helpful staff, had to pay for internet after first free 2 hours, but ended up using phone, comfortable and quiet rooms with easy access to the beach, restaurants and bars

Room Tip: Ask for the larger end rooms

This was our 3rd trip to Thailand the latter having been taken when you got 70 plus baht to the pound! We travelled with Travelbag from Birmingham for a 3 week stay. Our journey gave us the opportunity to fly on the 2nd leg from Dubai to Bangkok on the Emirates 380. After arriving in Bangkok we picked up our pre arranged taxi and set off to our hotel. It was daylight when we arrived and the journey took about 3 hours. As we drove into Hua Hin I was looking out for landmarks that I recognised from research on the internet. A smooth check in and we were in our room which was on the 6th floor. Initial reactions were that the room was adequate (classed as a Superior) but was a little cramped with a small balcony. I went back to reception and asked if they had a more spacious room. They firstly showed me the best room they had which was a Junior Suite and apparently they are the only ones that have a bath this was situated on the 4th floor but would have cost 1000 baht a night extra. They then showed us a Deluxe twin which was half the price of the Suite. Our first night we spent in the room we were allocated and we moved into the Deluxe on the 2nd day. What a difference, this room was much more spacious and our larger balcony overlooked the pool on the 5th floor, the town, the ocean and to the right of us the Hilton Hotel. Wardrobe space was fairly limited and there were not many drawers. Mini bar (chargeable) 2 armchairs and a table, TV again adequate but who goes on holiday to watch it. You are also provided with a safe (at reception) FOC. Our 1st night we had a meal in the hotel restaurant which was OK and a few drinks in the bar opposite. The next morning we had breakfast (included in our package) and I found it very uninspiring with hindsight I believe it is probably better to book room only. OK there was a fairly decent choice including eggs, bacon, sausage etc etc but it was always so cold no matter what time you got there. This hotel is very well situated and as we found our way about is in the middle of everything. I used the internet twice 20 baht for 30 minutes. The Soi it is located on is very quiet with a few restaurants, tailors etc and this also we found of advantage. The pool as I said is on the 5th floor and not as large as it looks in the photos. During our stay you could basically count on one hand the people who used it but with the ocean so close I suspect this was where most people headed. Overall the hotel was very clean with helpful staff and the only downside was when we checked out and we were charged 330 baht for water which I thought was complimentary!!! We enjoyed our holiday in Hua Hin which we thought had many places of interest, the weather was very hot but overcast and one afternoon when it absolutely chucked it down we found ourselves trying to get back to the hotel taking our shoes off and paddling through fairly deep water. We visited the floating market which I thought was very poor but perhaps it will be better as time goes on, went to Kho Takiab saw the monkeys who tried to grab my bag off me without success. Went to the Market Village with its many shops. Visited the night market and had several good meals at one of the many restaurants, did notice that during the week Hua Hin was not very busy and visitors increase at the weekends. Our nights were usually spent in the soi (Bintabahn I think) which is very popular with lots of different bars. Our favourite was The King Bar (at the top end nearest the Hilton), well worth a visit for the welcoming atmosphere and very good service. To sum up we had an excellent time and it was worth the long and tedious travel which would have been better if Emirates had allowed us to use our 60,000+ airmiles each to upgrade on our journey from Dubai to Birmingham!!!!

Room Tip: Good views from 6th floor

I was just staying for a night for a company event. This is one of the nearest hotel to the company event. The room is clean and the location is great. We pay 1000 baht without breakfast and i think is reasonable for price in the beach area.

Anyway, if youa re looking for more relax place to stay and better facilities and service. You might want to consider some other hotels.
