“Bed&breakfast or hotel?”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

Difficult to review this one. Long Beach Inn didn't really feel as a hotel. More like a good bed&breakfast. The owners, Bram, and also his father Willem are helpful and they are an important part of what LBI represents. They have plenty of tips and advice when you want. We had an executive room at the back side with view on the mountains. Room was of good size with comfortable king size bed. A lot of mosquitos though; also because the balcony doors doesn't close very well so the mosquitos come in all the time. There is no safe in the room. We gave our valuables to the owner Bram who kept them for us. We would have prefered a safe though.
Bathroom is of good size as well. We were not crazy about the shower/bathtub; showercurtain was not clean and we removed a lot of hair from the shower drain.
Cleanliness was not bad but could be better....
Location is very good. We have rented a scooter and made plenty of tours in the area which was a wonderful experience. It is great to visit the fishing villages. The area is very unspoiled, the people are very friendly. You do need a scooter or car. Near the hotel there is not much to do. The beach is nice for a walk to the nearby fishing harbour but not suitable for swimming or sunbathing. LBI has a nice swimming pool.
We went for dinner to Koram resort (Monkey bar) nearby a lot. They also have live music during the weekends which is nice.

Had a really enjoyable stay last month with Bram and his excellent staff.
LBI is an oasis of comfort, peace and contentment.
Stayed in the executive rooms which were clean, large and comfortable.
Wonderful breakfast where you can pick of a large menu and served al fresco in the pretty garden by the pool.
Bram was a good host and even ferried us a couple of times to Hua Hin when he travelled there.
There are some good restaurants along the beach mostly reasonably priced.
The only sadness was the chronic state of the sandy beach which with a little tlc could have made the whole resort so much better, we did not venture in the sea as there were significant numbers of large jellyfish both in the sea and beached on the sand.
One curious note to finish -the resort closes early around 9pm and the only place to eat was an Indian restaurant-in more than 20 visits to Thailand I have never eaten Indian there even though it is one of my favourites in the UK-well the food was fantastic-wonderful King Prawn Pakora about 15obht for 6 big shrimp, great tasting and fragrant curries as well as good breads and rice-2 will eat for about 800bht with beer.

Room Tip: spend the extra on the exec rooms

We stayed here last week for 7 nights with a 14 month old toddler. We were in room 11 and It was superb. The room was exceptionally clean and very spacious with a beautiful balcony. There was even a big bath in the corner of the bedroom which my little girl loved. The a la carte breakfast each morning was superb. The other food served in the hotel is also very good. Possibly the best in the area. Bram and his family were very friendly and welcoming. I can not fault this hotel. We have stayed in a lot of hotels in Thailand and Long Beach Inn is possibly the best.

As regards the location...there is not a lot to do in the surrounding area other than enjoy the beach. The beach is nothing special. The sand isn't white and the sea is a little murky. However it is very safe, quiet and very relaxing. Our little girl loved it. The hotel is located just a 2-3 minute stroll to the beach where there are a few small restaurants. The restaurants in the area are not particularly inspiring. We ate most nights in Dolphin Bay Hotel which was very near. Our little girl played was well entertained by the play area there plus the restaurant has an excellent kids menu. One day we hired bikes and another day we took a boat trip to monkey island then we were a little stuck for things to do so we just chilled on the beach most days. This is a very good place to come with small children.

Room Tip: Room 11 is very good

My wife and I visited this hotel 8 months ago. Why have we waited so long to write this review? Well, to see if our very favourable memories have dimmed_ and no they haven’t!

It is run by Bram, a Dutch guy. If he was any more laid back, he’d have rollerskates on his shoulder blades! All his staff are Thai and, both they and him, cannot be more helpful. The food is simple fare but the choice is wide and always excellent.

We were there in March 2013 when the hotel was quiet, which meant we had a splendid and relaxing experience.it was a pleasure to find somewhere unspoilt (don’t go there if you want night life!)

At the risk of making it busy (for when we go next time!) – would we recommend? YES of course!

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon in August. The proprietor had arranged a taxi to pick us up from Bangkok airport on arrival, so we instantly felt looked after. Our first interaction with the proprietor Bram was instantly reassuring as we were given a nice cool beer and told all the best sites to visit. He even took us to a party hosted by locals whilst we were staying which made us feel truly immersed in Thai culture.
The resort itself is idyllic and is sitauted opposite Money Island and the famour Sam Roy Yot caves which although tiring are definitely worth an exploration.
As always, the Thai people were warm and made us feel truly welcome.
I can not recommend this place enough and my only regret is that I have to wait another year before I can walk on the whote deserted beach!

Room Tip: I will also come to the Sam Roy Yot resort with more friends next time and avoid off peak season as...

We stayed here for one week at the end of October 2013 and are so glad we did! Originally, we had booked 5 nights but stayed an extra couple because we enjoyed the Long Beach Inn so much. It was a welcome oasis after the bustle of Bangkok and restored our faith in Thailand. Our room was lovely - very comfortable, a good shower and very clean. We had the added luxury of the spa bath! Bram, the owner, was helpful and made the time to speak to his guests each day. The pool was often empty and was a pleasure to use. The hotel is not in Hua Hin as listed on Trip Advisor, but 40km away just off the beach in Dolphin Bay. We walked down the beach most days and met very few people. If you are looking for a busy nightlife and a bustling beach, this is not the place for you but, if like us, you are looking to kick back for a while, it is perfect. Food at the hotel is good, and there are other places to eat a short stroll away.

Travelled to the Long Beach Inn for 15 nights at the end of August with my girlfriend. What an amazing hotel!
It's situated about 20 miles to the south of Hua Hin, 100 metres from the beach, just off a 3 mile beach road parallel to the sea.
The hotel is situated in lovely, tropical gardens, with palm and coconut trees all around the grounds making for a relaxing, tropical, serene environment.
Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted by Bram, the hotel's Dutch owner, and found that as it was off-peak season we had been upgraded to a fantastic jaccuzzi room for our stay. What a great surprise!
Bram is a very nice, easy going and friendly bloke, who will do anything to help you out. He can book trips out, arrange car/scooter hire, and give good information on interesting places to visit in the vicinity. He even offered to change money for us, and pick up any supplies that we needed as he was going into Hua Hin.
Cycles are available free of charge for the guests to use, which was an added bonus.
The room was amazing, with air-con, ceiling fan, fridge, 2 free bottles of water a day, huge bathroom with walk in shower and two sinks. The bed was massive and very comfortable too. We had a balcony overlooking the grounds and pool also.
The pool was also excellent. Perfect to relax around on the sunloungers, then have a dip in to cool down. There was a small jaccuzzi/spa section to the pool to relax those muscles.
Breakfast is included in the room price, and was a la carte, so no food lying around for ages. It was very tasty indeed. In fact, all of the food that we had at the hotel was very good quality. The menu is extensive, with many Thai and western dishes available.
The area that the hotel is in is very quiet and relaxing. Being low season, the lovely sandy beach was nearly deserted every day, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves!
Along the beach road are various bars and restaurants within strolling distance, and the Thai food at some of them is absolutely fantastic, and dirt cheap too. You can get yourself an hours Thai massage on the beach road for £6, and they are highly recommended by my girlfriend.
Plenty of sights to see in the local area, but you will need a car/scooter, or book yourself on one of the many trips to get to them.
To sum up - this is a top quality hotel, that's great value for money. Perfect for those wanting to get away from it all and relax in a tropical setting. If you're looking for crazy nightlife, discos, traffic, noise etc, then this isn't the place for you.
We are already planning to come back here next year!
