“Out of town, dated, and overpriced”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2009

This dated hotel is located on HuaHin 81, so a taxi is needed to get to the downtown core where the restaurants are located (50THB from the hotel, 100THB tuktuk from town). The hallway carpeting is stained but the tile/parquet flooring in the rooms appears new. Superior rooms come with a small safe, adequate cupboard and drawer space and plenty of hangers, coffee/tea making, a makeup table/desk with mirror, a TV (with no English movie channels), two double beds (deluxe rooms have a king bed and better chairs), two wicker chairs and a table, minifridge, shower with curtain and good hot water, but only lukewarm water in the sink, and an old style floor A/C that does not properly cool the room.

There are two pools, massage and manicure services. The private beach, complete with cushioned loungers and beach towels, is lovely, even at low tide – no rocks as there at the beaches in town. The hotel provides free pickup from the bus and train. If you have a car, there is plenty of parking space.

Buffet breakfast is included and there is a good selection, including make-your-own waffles and fresh fruit, though the juices are not fresh. The hotel restaurant has an extensive seafood selection (not surprising), and the grilled squid and prawns are especially good.

I bought a 3-day internet access card (350THB) only to discover that it only provided 5 hours of internet use. I attempted to explain to front desk staff that three days consists of 72 hours, not just five, but to no avail. The one-day card, however, provides 24 hours of access – go figure?

We just came back from Sailom Hotel Hua Hin and now we are in Japan. I and our family have a long way to go. Firstly, we had a trip at Sailom Hotel because of the price is reasonable and the rooms are very clean but the most important is the food. Sailom hotel are most keen on its restaurant because the food are very fresh and delicious. The asmosphere is astounding when you look towards the beach and when you get to the sea you will find that the beach is the most cleaniest and beautiful in Hua Hin.

The hotel was older than it was in the website. We paid walk-in rate for room 213 at 2,500 Baht (US$71) net for 2 persons including simple buffet breakfast at their open-air beach front restaurant.

The room had no carpet. Beds were quite new, clean and comfortable. There was no bath tub but a shower with 2 sliding doors. Water pressure was very good. When we opened the bathroom door, it touched the toilet. They provided soaps, detergent, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, hand tissues, bath towels, hand towels, bathrobes, hair dryer, tea & coffee making facilities, ice box, 2 bottles of (free) water and slippers - 2 for in room use and 2 for going down the beach. The old fashioned air-con was placed on the floor but it was strong and good. This sea view room was covered by their trees so we couldn’t view the sea clearly but hotels next door.

The outdoor pool was small. The parking space was very big. Their private beach was next to other hotels’ beaches so it looked like no one took care enough. In the morning a local lady walked her dog. He stood in the water and almost [--] when she stopped him. 3 other dogs were playing with sands and water. Foreigners ran and walked by. People had horses & speed boats for hired. It rained heavily the previous evening so the beach was dirty. 3 hotels nearby let their waste water flow directly into the sea. It was late June 2007.

The Reception lady who checked us in didn’t know how to speak nicely enough to meet general hotel standards. The porter was kind and helpful. The security guards at car park were good. Another male Reception staff didn’t know how to smile when we returned the umbrella. Housekeeping staff greeted us and smiled when they saw us.

Sailom Hotel is very near Hua Hin Market Village Shopping Mall on the other side of the street. We drove along the Petchkasem Street to find places to eat and found a small supermarket. I feel that there were not many eateries around the hotels.

  • Liked — Private beach
  • Disliked — Dirty beach. Reception lady who checked us in was not friendly enough. Noisy local customers near our room.
