We originally booked into a sister hotel 'Sam's House' but on arrival were told it was fully booked so we were moved into Sam's River Rafthouse. We were actually really pleased by the move as it was a great little place to stay.
The location was great, not far from the Bridge over the River Kwai and there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby. However on a bad note the staff didn't seem to be around much and the rooms themselves were very basic and the bathroom in particular wasn't great. However they float atop the river and there is a sort of balcony/walkway outside the rooms with chairs so we spent a few wonderful evenings outside watching the sun go down and the boats go past. It was truly relaxing and exactly what we needed after a hard day of sightseeing.

I was pleased with the location of the Rafthouse, however don't expect much more than the basics. The wifi signal was strong which was helpful. I avoided showering as the bathroom was suspect. If you are on a budget this accommodation is very doable, just don't expect too much.

Of course being on a boat on the river Kwai has its fantastic feeling, moreover for this price, but still the place needs serious renovation. Mainly outside, the wood to get on the boat are not to be trusted, one of them broke when we entered on the boat, and the river was just there under us...The passage way conditions till the rooms are very sad...The european lady at reception was not so nice as the local people staff who were very helpful. You also have cats wondering around asking for food...Good that the room was reasonably clean, though there were a lot of mosquitos inside when we first entered.Breakfast options at reception around 40-50 BHT immediately prepared by the locals. The location is excellent, walking distance from the bar center, night market and train station.

It's a nice rafthouse hotel right in the river. You get a beautiful view. The lobby area is nicely designed. Nothing to eat but you can get coffee. Might be a little difficult to find when you first arrive, just get a motorcycle taxi, it should only cost you 20 Baht.

Room Tip: Get the river-side room, beautiful view in the morning.
