River Kwai Bridge Resort

we stayed here for 2 nights. The bungalow was very nice however walls are very thin so you can hear your neighbour snoring. Very close to the River Kwai Bridge. Basic but good breakfast, nice swimming pool, friendly and helpfull staff.

We stayed here for 2nights in July the bungalow had everything we needed and was very clean. We were next to the swimming pool area with sunbeds but no cushions not very comfortable. The restaurant where breakfast is served is overlooking the river and Bridge and the choice was very good. We found the staff to be helpful arranging a tour for us to Hellfire Pass and our transport back to Bangkok. Each evening they phoned for a tuk tuk to take us into town where there are a great selection of bars and restaurants and cost us 80 baht. each way We would stay here again if visiting Kanchanaburi.

My brother & I stayed here in a bungalow room for 6 nights in May 2013 while doing the WWII Railway as my father was a POW on the railway. The bungalows were basic, neat, clean and the bathroom was large & functional. It is a little way a way from all the action, but a $1 will get you a tuk tuk ride upto the bars.

We found the staff great. Jum the receptionist who we got to know really well & she happily made changes to our accomodation booking in Bangkok and was happy to practice my Thai and her English as with the other receptionist Poly. Jack the bell boy was always running around helping people and a great young lad & Johnny from the Restruant was outstanding and helped us right from day 1. We had the most amazing Prawn cakes & fried dried beef as snacks with our first beers in Kanchanburi - Yum!!. Breakfast was more than adequate & had fun trying to teach the young girls English & we always told the cook her food was good. Smiles all round.

We were a little concerned at first that there was no safe in the room, however this didnt seem ot matter after a couple of days. The cleaning staff did a great job and just laughted a the two middle aged Aussies trying to clean up before they came in. They even folded some of our clothes and nothing ever went missing.

The pool was great and we just fetched Beers from reception which were the same price as down town at any Bar.

Its a great relaxed three star resort & Im sure we got back what we gave. I am going back to Kanchanaburi in April next year for Anzac day, I cant think why I wouldnt stay here. Even the manger heard about us and made a point that it would have been better if we bought a "Box" referring to the beers. We laughed - He laughed.

We recently stayed for 4 nights whilst visiting the Thai Burma Railway.
Certainly not 5 star but clean, in beautiful gardens and close to the River and town,
just a short 30 baht tuk tuk ride to your favorite bar.
Food not so good but overall value for money.

Room Tip: Choose room 410 near the river

Stayed here for 2 nights in April & really loved it here. It's a little way out of town but just a few hundred metres from the Bridge. The hotel is located on the river which makes for a beautiful setting whilst having breakfast or dinner. The buffet breakfast was quite good with an adequate variety. We stayed in a bungalow room that was very nice with tea & coffee making facilities. There are no room safes. The pool is a good size & lovely for an afternoon cool down, with massage available on site as well. Would definately stay here again for a relaxing getaway.

Room Tip: The bungalows are lovely with a nice verandah to sit & relax.

I'll start with the restaurant as that was the bad part. I had dinner here and the meal was not great at all. I ordered the pork curry and asked for it really spicy - it arrived and I believe there are more chillies in a Big Mac and fries. The pork was very fatty. Poor poor meal. This morning's breakfast in the same restaurant was as bad - no Thai food - only bland European food - chips, eggs and bacon. The only Thai hotel I've ever stayed in that didn't do Thai breakfast. Other than this (which is poor beyond believe) everything else is excellent. Super friendly staff. Amazing swimming pool. Lovely room. Great Wifi. One of the most relaxing places you could ever stay in. Please just learn to cook Thai food and the place would be perfect.

We stayed here for our final 2 nights before our long flight home. My son had stayed a few weeks earlier in the chalets in the grounds and felt they were somewhat tired. We were pleased to find on check in that we had 2 rooms in the new block. The standard of accommodation was very acceptable, large rooms, good air con, wii fi, warm showers, comfortable beds. The breakfast buffet was passable, could have been better but the setting of the restaurant was great being so close to the famous bridge. The highlight for us was the excellent massage received just before we left for the airport - 300 BHT for an hour of real quality massage, excellent!! The pool area was also very pleasant. The hotel is sited 50 metres away fro a war museum and small local market by the bridge.
The taxi transfer cost us £40 which was good value given the distance involved. We organised 2 excellent trips independently from Kanchanaburi - a bus trip to Erwan Falls which was amazing and a trip to the most wonderful elephant sanctuary an hour away where we were able to bathe with elephants. We were the only people there and it was such a special and personal experience. My son had visited before and arranged the trip through a wonderful lady called Toy based in a travel shop in a quiet street not far from the bus station.
I wish we could have spent more than 2 nights at Kanchanaburi. It is a relaxing and beautiful area. We passed some idyllic looking small hotels on beautiful lakes near Erwan - a night there would have been fabulous.
We travelled to the hotel from Bangkok by mini van from the Monument which was great - a chance to sit with local people and very reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the newer rooms which are of a good standard.
