This is a wonderful hotel, has large clean rooms overlooking a peaceful garden and swimming pool. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is situated about 10 minutes walk to the bridge over the river Kwai. They serve a very good breakfast and also have a dinner service. Very highly recommended

this is a small but beautiful backpacker hotel in Kanchanaburi. In front of the hotel you can find a laundry to wash your clothes, left along the street you can find the local restaurant "Pai Kan" where you can find tremendous cheap meals of good quality. You can walk down the street and in 300 m you can find the River Kwai Bridge. The staff of the hotel is funny and very helpful.

I can recommend to take a guided tour which the staff will suggest you because of the various places and their prices. The one day guided tour is much more cheaper as you take the tour by your own.

A recommendation for one of the most beautful tempel is the the one outside (2o kilometres) of the town see my pictures

This is a great little place located near the River Kwae bridge. Staff are very hospitable, rooms are clean, breakfast, lunch and dinner all great. This is a lovely oasis in Kanchanaburi; we can't wait to come back.

Quiet, clean and friendly staff. Good Wifi. Nice rooms. Decent breakfast. Location is good too - in between the Bridge and "downtown" area; about a 10 minute walk either way. Vice nice pool area. For the price, you can't beat it.

Room Tip: have dinner in nearby Friend restaurant.

We have been to Kanchanaburi numerous times over the years and usually stay at another guest house. As we were there for Anzac day they were booked out and we are so glad that we found the Sabai @ Kan. The rooms and grounds were so spotlessly clean that we thought it was a very new hotel, we were surprised to find out it was four years old. The rooms are spacious, simple, but have everything you need. The shower is large and plenty of hot water with good pressure. The king size bed was the most comfy we have ever had in Thailand in this price bracket. Crisp white sheets & Sheridan fluffy white towels. Mini bar stocked at supermarket prices, you can also buy additional supplies upstairs again at Seven 11 prices. The pool was clean and a blessing on a hot afternoon. The restaurant served a beautiful buffet breakfast and lovely food of an evening. After a few disasters at restaurants down the street and due to tiredness, we ate here for our last few nights. As to others comments on lack of privacy on the ground floors, you just need to pull your curtains slightly across when you are in your room or close them when you leave. We actually loved being on the ground floor, we were blessed with fantastic guests all along the row. We would often have drinks together, sitting outside our rooms and chatting, it was a beautiful, warm environment. Unlike previous accommodation we have had in Kanchanaburi, the clientele were mostly middle aged couples or families with young children. We didn't experience any of the usual older men bringing back young Thai women. (Not that, that bothers us, but I know it certainly puts off a lot of people). It is located close to the Bridge. Their staff member 'Apple' is an absolute gem. She speaks fluent English and helped out many a traveller whilst we were there. From a couple that were involved in a motorcycle accident, to a mum who had a sick child, to us having to go to Bangkok with passport issues. The owners and their two adult children were just beautiful. Nothing was too much for them. Every staff member there, were an absolute delight to deal with. We look forward to our next visit.

What you get at the Sabai is a down to earth, clean, modern and welcoming hotel. The rooms are a good size and the building comprises a ground floor and first floor ovelooking a pretty garden with a swimming pool. The restaurant is adjacent to the garden area and serves up a wide variety of Thai dishes. The staff were very helpful and any local tourist type information was readily available at the front desk. Tours can be booked. We went on the one that included the Hellfire Pass.

Location is on the road leading to the River Kwai Bridge and railway, about a 15 minute walk, turn left when exiting the front courtyard of the hotel. A sidecar motorbike taxi can be ordered from the front desk for this and other trips, although it's cheaper to just hail one along the main road. Turning right when exiting the hotel takes you to the main part of town where you can find the cemetries and the war museum, well worth the visit for anyone interested in the wartime history of Kanchanaburi. This is a taxi ride that takes about 15 minutes.

In the other direction there are floating restaurants adjacent to the Kwai bridge and although you pay tourist prices which anyway are not unreasonable, at least one evening meal there is a worthwhile experience. Best to apply a mosquito rub before arrival.

In summary, for anyone or a couple wanting a moderately active stay, then 3 days at Kanchanaburi is probably sufficient. More relaxation time at say one of the remoter riverside hotels will probably consume 5 days or so, but of course everyone's requirements are different.

Room Tip: First floor rooms are fine, and slightly chaeaper
