Great spot - stayed here lots of times. Good food, well priced everything, huge comfortable bed (and big rooms with great aircon)- nothing bad to report. Unless you're on a super-slim budget, splash out on the 700bht for a better downstairs room. No stairs, quiet and so, so much better than the adjoining Noble Night guesthouse thats become a bit shabby and neglected over the years. Still can use the NN pool, which is the only thing going for NN...

Great location along most of the restaurants, bars and shops you'd like to see, incredibly comfy beds, warm showers, 15 baht scoops of ice cream and great banana splits.

What really makes this worthwhile is the travel agency it partners with/is next to. The agency provides reasonably priced tours to see the waterfalls, elephants, death railway... all the main attractions. The main selling point for these tours is the flexibility- they will hit a lot of spots in the day, with leeway there to go off and do your own thing, or if you'd like, you can stick around with the guides who speak fairly good English and get solid information about the sites.

Did I mention the comfy beds?

Had a serviceable lunch here. Burgers for 50 baht! Spring rolls. Spaghetti tomato sauce. Coffee.

Not especially tasty, but generous portions and totally serviceable for prices substantially below "backpacker" prices. Very friendly wait staff. Airy high ceilinged space. Ceiling fans.

No regrets.

Oddly enough, I couldn't this place right away, but once I did it seemed totally obvious. It's right in the middle of town. There are a few well situated restaurant tables overlooking the main street of Kanchanaburi, but otherwise sports a fairly plain exterior. My room was spacious, clean and quiet. The bed was pretty comfortable and softer than the average concrete slab so ubiquitous in this part of the world. The staff were friendly and super helpful in arranging excursions to Erewan Falls, Death Railway Museum and other places. They also got me good cheap transport back to Bangkok on short notice. I thought this hotel was terrific value for the money and I would definitely stay there again.

First, i would like to help by informing people that there is no free breakfast here.(Their nice Snooker Restaurant serves food, though) Second is though the name is Tara we spent 10 minutes trying to tell my tuk tuk guy the name of the hotel and as there is no R alphabet in the thai language he wouldn't understand till I uttered the name TALA! (The nearest phonetic alphabet to sound like R)Its a family run business where all the members help.
Its only five minutes by tuk tuk from the bus station. We were very impressed with the big rooms, shower, Big LED TV,Cleanliness,Wi fi,swimming pool,m western toilets, soft beds and location and the reasonable costing laundry and the very helpful ANN. KTC and Tara B and B and Tara Rooms(Rafts) are owned by the same family. They arranged a taxi for us at a reasonable rate for seeing Tiger Temple and Erawan Waterfalls and also an AC MINI VAN to go to Ayuthayya.I also won't forget Uncle Don who took us around the cemetries and the Bridge in his motorcycle taxi at a reasonable rate. There is a 7 11 on the same road.I would love to stay here again.

If the star rating is putting you off- please ignore it! I really don't understand how this isn't at least a 3* place!

Firstly- the pool is just lovely! All you can hear while in it is the birds and it's right next to the river.
We stayed in a private en suite room for 700 baht a night (incredible value) - we've been travelling for 2 months, often in 3* and 4* places, and this is one of the biggest rooms we've encountered! The bed was SOFT! Shocker for Thailand where all beds are notoriously hard...
Location is a 10 min walk from train station (though didn't use it) and is on one of the busiest 'nightlife' roads in Kanchanaburi (it's not an amazing party scene, but there are pleeeenty of bars and restaurants on the road, as well as a Tesco Locus and 7/11 within a few minutes walk)
We ate quite a lot at the hotel's restaurant- they're quite slow to bring food but have a huge range: western options like steaks and chips, pasta, burgers; many Thai dishes, desserts and fantastic smoothies/lassi drinks! I fell in love with these here! Food is all decently priced and pretty good :)
Staff are all helpful and friendly; we were lucky enough to be here while a litter of kittens were roaming around which was great fun- they're incredibly affectionate and would curl up on our laps while we waited for food!
Rooms are quiet, no noise disturbances. Mini fridge buzzed sometimes but as we only kept drinks in it we just unplugged it at night.
The only downsides to this place were that the hot water was a bit flakey (but it's a hot country so doesn't really matter!) and that the key was welded to the card for the electricity slot, so you couldn't leave things charging while you left the room.
Overall we had a fantastic stay- we even extended our stay here by several nights with really short notice- not many guests staying here (usually had pool to ourselves- plenty of comfy loungers and umbrellas though)
One of the most memorable stays among many- perhaps as we had such low expectations of a 1* and were so pleasantly surprised! :)

Room Tip: No lift but only two floors.

We stayed here for two nights for the Anzac parades. There were three couples one of which had a toddler. We arrived and were impressed with the swift check in straight to our rooms and the toddler had a full size single bed. Great value with an excellent comfy bed, plenty of shower gel, complimentary water and a TV with western channels. We had snacks in the bar/restaurant which ere good and the beer was cold and reasonably priced. Well done Tara and so much better than Noble Nights where we stayed before. We will definitely be staying with you for Remembrance in November.
