Have stayed here twice and both times were satisfied with the room for only 500THB a night. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was just okay. Good place if you have a big group. It is close to the bus stations (within walking distance), lots of great restaurants and the Saturday night walking street. Would stay here again!

I visited Khon Kaen in 2009 and stayed a few days at the Roma, and I remember not being impressed by their AC rooms. I came back in September 2013, though, and the newly renovated "boutique" rooms are like a different hotel altogether. Highly recommended.

The hotel offers three types of rooms: Fan, AC, and Boutique. I peeked into fan rooms from the hallway, and as others have pointed out, they looked worn out and musty. The AC rooms looked better than I remembered. But the boutique rooms... Wow, I love them. Big, bright and cheerful, with a nice bathroom, fridge, AC, and a big, comfortable bed.

The staff was always kind and helpful with me. Most of the times there was someone there who could speak English and answer my questions, and they were always happy to help.

The Roma Hotel is located smack in the middle of the action, two blocks north of the AC bus station, and surrounded by an impressive choice of street stalls and small restaurants. The food overall is really good here, and people are cheerful and helpful. I ate at a few stalls the first day, and the next day, everyone was waving at me and smiling. This is also a good spot to catch songthaews going elsewhere in town. There's a night market two blocks south, and a weekend night market (open on Saturday) two blocks north, which I enjoyed tremendously.

Room Tip: Boutique rooms are best value. AC rooms seem decent, but ask to see a few ones. Fan rooms seem prett...

This hotel was the worst one I've had until now. The lobby looked nice, but the room was really awful. Some kinds of red stains on the walls. I couldn't helping thinking about some horrible scene. The door of the bathroom was rotten by water. I had a fan room. However, why there is such a big difference between rooms. I don't understand why the hotel keeps such rooms. Anyway, it was a terrible stay in this hotel. I don't recommend it.

We spent just a night in this clean and standard hotel.
We were in the new rooms, nice decorated with all you need. A clean and well furnished bathroom, a comfortable and large bed, closet and TV.
If you're looking for a calm night this is waht you need.

Rooms are very clean, but noise can be heard from the corridor. Hotel is in good location, you can find breakfast, lunch, dinner near the hotel. Car park not suitable for high roof pick-up or van, have to park somewhere else.

This hotel is very near to the bus station and as we were heading to Laos next day wanted to be nearby.

The rooms are a good size and have air conditioning and ours had Wifi as well.

Breakfast was good quality downstairs and across the car park, through the back door to the restaurant in the hotel that backed on to this. However, they did say they were getting a restaurant of their own shortly.

The bathroom was renovated and clean if a little gaudy in colour and the double bed was comfortable.

We stayed here for one night in March 2012.
The hotel is quite centrally located and easy to get a sangthaew to Oasis Plaza for shopping.
A saamlaw to Central Plaza or the bars/restaurants area near the Pullman Hotel will cost you approximately 50 baht.
We had a room in the newer wing which was quite modern and good value for 600 baht. This price does not include breakfast but you can get bacon, eggs, toast, jam, tea, coffee etc.for 100 baht in the downstairs restaurant.Thai breakfast options are cheaper starting at around 60 baht.
At night this restaurant has live music and you can sit and eat and enjoy a beer or two at a reasonable price.
Also, opposite the hotel, there is a restaurant that does Thai food and bread and seemed very popular in the morning.
Parking for the hotel is in the basement and along a narrow alley way.Spaces are quite tight so bear this in mind if you have a pick-up or 4 x 4.
Overall, the Roma is a decent place to stay and the staff are friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the newer wing
