“Relaxed & friendly get-away spot”
Reviewed 28 February 2014 via mobile

Stayed there for 5 nights and was heartbroken when I had to leave, it's run by a lovely Thai family who are very helpful and kind. The menu of the restaurant is a bit scarce but the food was great - even people from other nearby bungalows came to visit on a daily basis! The only downsides were that they only had electricity from 6pm to 5am and there was no hot water in the bungalows. The location is about 5 miles from Ao Nang (1 from the pier) and was a bit hard to get to (taxi cost 500 baht and had to ask for directions even though I had a map), but it's very quiet and relaxed and right next to a beach, which is exactly what I was looking for :) Will definitely come back again to escape the crowds of tourists!

Boss and his family made us feel so welcome!

Food was lovely and fresh. Sand Beach Bungalows were great fun, lovely, clean and just few steps from the amazing sand beach!

Initially we stayed in Ao Nang, but the beach there is overcrowded. A lot of tourist and local people are trying to sell you almost everything. Therefore we moved to Sand Beach Bungalows and stayed here for 4 nights and no regrets! Owners will do everything for you to make you feel as you are the part of their family.

Please note, Sand Beach Bungalow located far away from the cities and as result electricity is available here only from 18:00 to 24:00 o'clock - which is great for people who are looking for downshifting.

Family who own this place will help you to organize almost everything: transport from/to Krabi Airport, motorbike and boat rent, kayaking.

Amazing place! Highly recommend, if you think you don't like Thai food, try it here and you will change your mind.

Cheers.
Vladimir

Room Tip: All bungalows are great and located just few steps from the beach.

I had book this knowing that it would have ben basic: well this basic was just not for me; only cold water, no electricity till 6pm so if you need to recharge your phone like it hapened to me well you are fxxxxed! The place its been advertised with a bar & small shop which I failed to see, also it states with wifi in public ares which by the way this public area amounts to nothing and there is no wifi. Room was clean but too basic and full of geckeos and similar insects, annoying monkey and dogs.
The beach could be nice and desolate but shame for all the plastic debrids scatter all over which nobody cares gathering. And no a long chair in site
The lady is very sweet and try to speak a little english but is not enough when dealing with a problem.
If this is the sort of shack you are after then you will find it. I checked out within 2 hours and relocated in a very decent 4 star hotel in ao nang.

4/5 because they use sea water for the room. LOL..

Good place if you looking for a calm and silent place to stay. Far from busy town. The room very clean.

Only 2 problem. Their dog always disturbing me anf the water. Thats all.

we phoned the lady of this venue and agreed on price (800 baht for bungalow) when we got there i found out that this place advertised on the site was not available since she said she did not have electricity so she had relocated us on her sister's resort PAN BEACH RESORT. I complained about that since i had not seen this place on Trip advisor, so she gave us a discount. Our Bungalow was ok but basic, spartan. so do not go if you want luxury. The beach is beautiful and i agree with what has been written; that is it is still a natural place. Too bad that walking to the right end side of the beach where the mangoves are is really not soo natural but rather post industrial: full of plastic bottles everywhere (which on our experience has also happened in Ko lipe, and Songkla). The place is not good for swimming. the water is muddy-like plus in the morning the tide was so low you might have wanted to walk miles to get to the actual sea!)The scenary is nonetheless beautiful with those misty-islands looming from afar, seems almost a gothic like ambience, plus you get locals doing their pick-nick with bonfire. It's just a place where you want to get to used to Thailand beaches and sun from the european winter but i would not spend more than 2 nights there unless you are a family with kids.

The hotel is small and family managed. For those who love the water, the location couldn't be better - right on the beach. This was one hotel whose website pictures of the beach were entirely accurate.

The great -
(1) Loved the quiet, sleepy ambience. Just 9 cottages and most times you will have the beach to yourself.
(2) A 30 second walk from your cottage and you step out on the sand.
(3) Great babmboo sit-outs next to the beach, to hang out, drink beer, eat or sleep
(4) The lady managing the place is a great cook, if you like Thai cooking
(5) At high tide ( mornings and early afternoon in December ), the water is good, clean and calm. The sand, though not really white, is clean and without rocks.
(6) Lovely Causirina trees shading the beach
(7) Nice views across the water to small islands
(8) Possibly the quietest / best beach on the Krabi mainland.

The good -
(1) Cottages are basic but we found it adequate
(2) Lots of dogs around the property - mainly Labradors. They are well behaved and we love dogs, so this was a positive for us.
(3) The place is small enough that you meet and perhaps get friendly with most of your fellow guests.

The not so good -
(1) This part of the beach is cut off from the rest of the beaches by a water channel. You are dependent on a boat to get you across. The hotel has a boat, but late night trips back from Ao Nang can be a problem.
(2) The "family" atmosphere, while charming for the first couple of days, can get a bit grating after a while. A little more professional hotel services would be welcome.
(3) No electricity except generator power between 6pm to around 6 am. Didnt bother us much in December though, specially as we were out most of the day.
(4) On getting to know some of the other guests, we found we were paying a lot more than some of them were. Even those who booked later than us. I guess we were not so smart.

All in all - loved the first couple of days. The next two days
had niggling irritaions - phone calls to the hotel to pick us up by boat not answered, the generator power going off, no breakfast when we had to leave early one morning etc.
