“Great place”
Reviewed 7 February 2009

We spent about 5 nights at stoneys over new years eve.
The staff and owner were fantastic, rooms were big and clean.
Within 5min walk to beach, close to down town.
Much better then we expected only down fall is has no lift , so would not suit elderly or disabled.

We stayed here on a trip through Thailand at the end of December 08. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Rooms were good; my only complaint would be that the bed was a bit hard. We found the location to be good. It is approx 10min walk (flat walk with lots to look at) to the centre of Patong which is very busy (bars, prostitutes etc.) so it was nice to have some distance. You can get to the beach in under 5mins from the hotel. We had breakfast included in our stay but wouldn't recommend it unless you eat a 7am. They bring the food out then and leave it on the buffet. There are no warmers to make sure it is hot therefore we ended up having cold bacon and eggs each day. There were lots of bonuses like free airport transfers, foot massage and room upgrade.

Overall it really depends on what you're looking for. I would say this is an average place to stay meaning it’s not the best place I've ever stayed and not the worst. If I was going back I would have a look around to see what else there is but I wouldn’t be opposed to staying there again.

I was just in southern Thailand over New Years. We arrived to thr greatest weather and the nicest people. We were staying at the Stoney Monday Hotel. The greatest! They were so friendly and helpful. On the other hand, We flew Air China there. The worst! The worst ever! Rude and unfriendly. Please don't put yourself through that! The weather was great in Phuket. The water was sky blue and crystal clear. Teaming with life! Go to Mnkey island to hand feed the monkeys. Hint ( bring a trail mix of fruit and nuts) They like em more than the bananas. Phi Phi was amazing. Just like the movies. Tours are often brief though. Hire a boat man for a few 100 baht and have a long boat bring you along the sea caves of these great islands. The nightlife can be a little seedy. There's alot of prostitution all over the center of town. There harmless and don't harass you. shopping all over southern Thailand is best done at night when prices go down. (hint, Don't try to bargain with the Indian looking shop owners. They get insulted when you bargain with them. There delusional. Deal with the Thai, much nicer to give your baht to.)
Enjoy!
PS Dont waste time in Samui if you like nature. Koh Tao only option. Better off in Krabi just south of Phuket.

From the warm welcome to the fun & friendly atmosphere of this great boutique hotel I enjoyed my stay from start to finish.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants the personal touch in their travels.
Forget the lift... walking is much better for you anyway.
This is my place to stay next time I am lucky enough t be in Patong.
Enjoy

Do not make the same mistake by staying at this hotel while in Patong. The first clue was no elevator and having our room on the 4th floor. The second clue was seeing the yellow stained toilet bowl that looks so disgusting. I found out later that it was rust stain. I turned on the faucet and rust started pouring out of the faucet. I immediately checked out and moved to a different hotel. Really disgusting hotel.

Stayed at Stoney Monday last week. It's ok is all.
The location isn't great. A block back from the very nth tip of Patong beach, It's a solid 10 min walk to the the action of Patong closer to the southern end.
Always a worry when part of the "bar" in the room includes a packet of condoms???
As mentioned by Frank previously, I would definitley recommend staying at one the bigger resorts if Patong is where you want to be. Normally the Boutique hotels are the way to go in Thailand, just not in this case.
Breakfast was hit and miss. American B'fast (eggs & bacon in this case) was included. The first 2 days we received this then strangley the offerings turned to toast and jam for the last 3 days???

Its not worth the value, so many other hotels of good value in Patong, this is not one of them. OK budget rooms but for the money you pay, you can get better. No elevator, bad location, rooms well run-down, unfriendly staff. Sorry to say its not my choice and I will never return.
