Having recently stayed at Ibis Nana Bangkok, I thought I would give this Ibis a chance.

The rooms look like any other Ibis hotel, except the desk is replaced by a balcony. The balcony had a plastic table, but no chairs, why??? I had a pool view room (214), however, the only thing I could see was a palm tree and no view what so ever.

Breakfast was efficient, though very limited choice.

Ordered a Panini sandwich in the lobby bar, but was delivered a hamburger, when asking the waiter why, he said "I don't know" and refused to change my meal.

Some steps urgently needed with regards to service, English skills and attention from staff and this hotel would be a good option. Would I return? No.

we booked the room from the hotel website direct at just US$35 per night! since our flight is pretty late and we are not familiar with the local environment, we also booked the hotel transfer service from the airport at 800THB for 2 persons though it probably will cost 300-400THB if you ask for the same service at the airport. since we are just 2 girls, it's better to have it arranged through the hotel to place safe.

we stayed for just 2 nights as a stopover before we went to another resort at mai khao beach. check-in was swift and we were assigned a room overlooking the pool which is definitely better than those street view rooms. room size is average but bathroom a bit small. well...for a charge like this, you won't expect too much and so you wont' get disappointed.

location, a bit away from the patong but still within walking distance, it takes you about 20 mins to Junceylon. if you want everything in hand very easily, choose hotels at the centre of patong then.

as some people reviewed before, sound proof of the rooms is really BAD. you can hear clearly what people say when they walk by, they are not yelling or screaming but you can still hear every word they said. i really could not sleep at all.

good to have world cup channel in english in room! it's important as some other hotels (those 5 stars) offer thai channel only (not sure because of licensing issue of broadcasting rights). there's a bar opposite to the hotel where one can watch world cup or play snooker. no in-room wifi, but you can go to the lounge at the lobby for free wifi or pay for internet access using their PC.

didn't try any F&B at the hotel so can't comment. didn't swim in the pool neither because the rain just didn't stop throughout our stay!

overall there's nothing you can complain for a price like this. if you can sleep easily you can consider this for a budget option.

this is my third stay at this hotel and each stay is worse than the last.

a particular incidenet marred my last stay. basically i was overcharged while dining at their restaurant and i questioned the bill. the staff who served me was rude and insisted that it was correct. the bill was just a small amount, so i was fine with it. but i asked to
speak to the hotel manager (whom i believe is called RAPHEAL) to seek some clarification. the staff obliged, but not before telling her side of the story to the manager.

when the manager arrived, he tried to defend the staff and what she did. and he was just as rude and tried to push the blame to me. when he realised that it was his staff's fault and not mine, he tried to close the matter by offering me a drink from the bar counter. all this while, he adopted a 'high and mighty' attitude, was rude and insincere. i said i didnt want the drink and he just turned and walked off! like i was just wasting his time.

customer satisfaction is definitely not their priority at this hotel. many of the staff put on
a sulky face and were generally rude. no smiles, no greetings. when they made up my room, the changed one towel out of two. didnt replenish my tea and coffee. i have been to novotel and mercure phuket and the level of service was definitely much better than ibis patong. and i'm really not surprised, considering how the hotel manager himself behaved.

i still think that the hotel rooms offers decent value, but dont expect service from the staff.
and certainly not from the manager.

Hotel was very nice, rooms were nice and clean, if slightly small, but your not in thailand for the hotel room size are you.
5 min walk to the beach, and 10 minutes walk to bangla road.

Hotel staff were friendly, the pool was lovely

Theres a good sports bar across the road from the hotel, so you wont miss any sports events on tv
All in all, a very enjoyable stay at a lovely hotel

I stayed at Ibis Patong for 4 nights and enjoyed the stay. If you're most likely gone in the morning exploring the town and only use the hotel to relax after activities, then this is definitely your choice of hotel.

The hotel is located in the center, not far from the Junceylon mall (100 baht by tuk tuk) and just a walking distance to Patong Beach. I find the room nice despite some people saying it being small- The room is just like any other Ibis Hotel anywhere (with added balcony) and really clean. I slept well, no noises whatsoever (i was on the 5th floor).
For the WiFi, you have to pay again but we got free sim card at the airport from True operator and we used the internet there instead since it was cheaper (blackberry, 60 baht/3 days)
TV could have more channels since they only had news, music channels, no movie channels.

Breakfast was nice, except that they didn't seem to change the menu so you might get bored with the omellete, sausage, fried rice, pastry etc after a few days.
The staff were great (the cleaning service were really nice), the receptionist was OK, their english were sometimes hard to understand.
We checked out early at 5AM cause we had to catch the morning flight back and the receptionist gave us breakfast box so that was a bonus.

Overall we loved it and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

My friends and I (5 girls in total) stayed here in June 2010. We booked on the accor asia super sale so paid a ridiculously cheap rate (approx $20 AUD per night).
This hotel was quite decent, clean, but rooms and bathrooms are small. If you are out exploring like we were all day, it really doesn't matter, but if you have a couple of kids I would probably look elsewhere unless they are old enough for their own room.
Halls were a bit noisy at night but this would obviously depend on the other guests. Good pub across the road that seemed to be full of aussies. Walking distance to beach and markets, short tuk tuk ride to Bangla rd.

Tastes Restaurant within the hotel was great, I wish we had eaten there twice!

Free Wifi was a bit hit and miss, however this may have been weather related, and I was accessing it from an iPhone. I could never access it at all but another friend could, and there was computers downstairs for access in any case.

Recommendations:
- DO NOT have more than 2 people per room, they are just too small
- If you sleep lightly or have children that sleep lightly, keep in mind a lot of external sounds can be heard at night from the room.
-Eat in the Tastes restaurant!
-Check with outside companies for day tours- we found a Phi Phi day tour for 1000 baht compared with approx 3000 baht from the hotel
