Located a 15 minutes walk or a 5 min bike ride away from the hustle and bustle of the Patong Scene, great because you wouldn't want to take forever to get to where the action is, and yet when you are ready to retired at night, there is generally peace and quiet (the pub across the road did blast their music a little loud but once you are in your room, it isn't much of a problem)

The pool in the hotel is nothing to shout about but then again why would you need a pool when there is patong beach just 5 mins away on a bike.

Bike rentals are available at the hotel itself, the bikes are all looked new and were working fine. 150baht a day if i remembered correctly. Don't forget to haggle for better price though

The owner is excellent and recommended places where we could visit and did not hard sell any tours at all. In fact, she recommended us to get our selves to the Big Buddha and Wat Chalong temples and Promthrep Cape (i reckon 30 mins away on bike) instead of booking a tour. She even provided street maps free of charge!

Room wise, sheets and towels were changed everyday and room service was excellent. Everything worked well in the rooms.

This is one place to stay for couples, friends on a trip together! in fact, me and my friends are planning to visit phuket soon and will definitely stay at Patong Hillside again

Backpacked on 2Jan2011. Loistered the entire patong on foot. It is located near the very south end pf patong, up a rather small and deserted-looking hill slope(Duh, hillside) with some derelict buildings and very few pedestrians. (Beware of traffic and as there's no padestrian pavements on those slopes and bends. But its an interesting sight.) It's some walk away from main attractions and some might initially find it a litttle remote, but walk up westwards beyond the slope civilisation reappears along nanai road. Personally, I found no problem with walking.

Stayed on ground floor twin bed room next to a small pool. Frangipani flowers fall into the pool from a nearby tree. No key deposit. The room was HUGE with a balcony (not of much use if you stay on ground floor as you'll be staring into some walls and spiderwebs...), 3bedside tables, one round tea table and two airchairs, a mini fridge with 2 bottles of water, tea cups with satches of tea, coffee and sugar! (There's an electic kettle but make sure to wash it before use.) There were some insects in the room since it's near vegatation, so use some balms and dust the beds before sleeping. It's near the road and you might near motobikes so switch on the TV.
Overall It was in fact better than many hotels I've stayed in.

Stayed here for about 5 days and had an absolute blast! The rooms are quite new, and kept very clean. They all have TV, DVD, fridge, AC & a safe. Our room was cleaned daily, which is not the norm for Thailand (at least what we've experienced). The hotel is very safe and the owner went out of his way to make sure everything was OK. We accidentally blew our room's fuse twice in a row (foreign power converter problem) and the owner replaced instantly with a smile! The pool is a nice plus, a bit small, but perfect for cooling off after a long day at the beach! The walk is about 10 mins to Patong, but it isn't too bad at all. Prob one of the best places we've stayed at in Thailand; highly recommend!

I'm a returning guest at hillside, the first time impressed me so much, I decided to come with a group my friends. At my request to arrange us to stay on the ground floor (POOLSIDE) , the manager Ms Som very kindly arranged.

The rooms were as spic & span as before, spacious, clean sheets, toilet, what more can a budget traveller ask for? Counter service was also great!! The guy there (sorry, didn't ask for name!!) very kindly recommended a budget restaurant nearby, he even brought my friend on a bike so we would know just right WHERE, and not point on a map! Great service at its best!

They even VERY KINDLY helped us to contact our transport to airport. Note-they didn't charge us any fees for that. And when our transport was uncontactable, Ms Pim & guy helped us to look for an alternative at a similar rate! WOW!

My sincerest thanks to Ms Pim & her crew. I will definitely come back another time!

A big fat thumbs up for Hillside! The rooms are extremely clean and spacious, bathroom was huge (no tub, awesome automatic water temp regulator for energy efficiency) and the rooms came with free WiFi, cable TV and even a DVD player (not that we used it.) Mini fridge came stocked only with the free water they give you daily, which was perfect, and the A/C was new although slightly noisy. Hotel has a mini pool which we didn't use, and no restaurant although there are plenty of cheap eats nearby. The one thing I wasn't crazy about was the traffic noise from Nanai Road which doesn't seem to die down at any hour, although it was probably only an issue for me because our room was right next to the road (balcony overlooking it.) The 15 minute walk to Patong Beach was no problem at all, especially since there is so much cool stuff along the road on the way there (cheap tasty restaurants and cafes, snazzy art dealers, tattoo shops, etc.) Will definitely stay at the Hillside again!

We stayed here because it came highly recommended by a friend, and it was way beyond our expectations. The hotel is new and very clean. The room was enormous; it came with a king sized bed, fridge, tv, dvd player, wireless internet and air condition. There is also a cute pool out front and laundry right across the road. I don’t think the price can be beaten. It is about 10-15 minutes walk to Patong beach but we were adventurous and rented a scooter. The staff is really friendly and helpful and we even arranged to have then pick us up and drop us off at the airport. A++++++++

We stayed here while we were doing a TEFL course at the Patong Language School in March 2009. The hotel was recommended as part of a package for our course. We were very happy with the rooms, very spacious with cable tv, small fridge, clean Western bathrooms and excellent service. The staff were so friendly and helpful - thanks a lot to Pin, Chaa/Ja, Miss Som and the lovely cleaners! They helped us in every way they could - leant us DVDs, an iron and ironing board, let us use the microwave and gave us travel information.
The reception staff can all speak English, and Pin was also a very helpful, teaching us the pronunciation of Thai words. She even did a cross-stitch picture and put it up in our room while we were there! (we stayed for a month)
We only wished it was a little closer to the school and the beach - about a 15min walk in the heat :s But you can hire a motorbike for 250b p/day, from right across the road (cheaper if you hire for longer though). There is also a laundry service too, 50b p/kg.
Nanai is quite a busy road at times, so make sure you ask for a room at the back of the property.
The staff can direct you to a cheap restaurant - Sawadee - a ten min walk away.
