“Great value and location”
Reviewed 2 March 2014

We arrived at lunch time and did not book in advance - got a great walk in rate for a nice room which would have been 50% more expensive a week earlier. The room was clean and had all facilities needed, bed was comfortable and despite the fact that the place is located near the night life the room was far enough away from the main street so no problem with any noise - just don't expect a room with any spectacular view. Practically in the middle of shopping and night life and with parking available it was perfect for us. During the day we explored all the various beaches of Phuket by car anyway, so for us no need for a hotel right next to the beach. 2 nice pools, and the rooftop one has a great view over Patong in all directions. Would certainly stay again at the rate we got!

Room Tip: The best value rooms are in the building without elevator, so if you don't mind walking 2 floors...

I stayed her solo for 2 nights after picking up a half price deal for a room in their serviced apartment building.

I have to say for what I paid I was extremely happy. The room had a huge bed, lovely bathroom and a nice balcony. Checkin was simple and the staff provided just the right kind of service for a big hotel.

The location is awesome as it's about a 5 minute walk to the big shopping mall and another minute from there to reach Bangala road.

Not much noise was heard inside my room. Some rude guests in the room next door kept me awake on one occasion as they had a portable stereo blasting music at 5 in the morning but thankfully it didn't last long.

If your looking for a nice simple and cheap hotel, definitely choose the Amata providing you can pick up a good deal as I probably would not pay the full price to stay here.

My girlfriend and I stayed there for 2 weeks. We were in one of the superior rooms on the 4th floor. We were not impressed with the term superior as there was nothing exceptional about it. In fact it was no different to what you find at the roadside motels anywhere in Australia. The reception is well set out but the restaurant not so. The room service was lacking in many ways, some days they would restock the fridge and other days they wouldn't, yet still charge for imagined consumed items.
The security staff and bellhop were very friendly but staff at reception and housekeeping were in a category of their own. The restaurant was dismal, not only for breakfast which was almost the same everyday but for any meal, in fact the restaurant staff were rather rude to a few guests. If you have to stay here I suggest you keep a distance from the staff with no more than the basic needed communication, as almost none of them speak anything other than Thai anyway.
On the other hand the location is pretty central and if you don't mind a bit of walking then it's ideal to go in any direction.
We would not stay here again.

Absolutely fantastic hotel with perfect price/quality ratio! Clean big rooms, quiet atmoshere in several meters from Bangla road!
Jungceylon is very close also! You should not order breakfasts in the hotel since it is pretty expensive comparing with delicious food outside.

Very disappointed in our stay here. Check in was smooth and quick, that was the highlight of our stay. Room on the 6 th floor was shabby but clean. Bed was rock hard, the noise from air conditioning was like a rumbling truck engine, chip along with mosquitos and a very uncomfortable bed, kept me woke most of the night. On the plus side te location is good!

I stayed at Amata Resort for 5 days. It is only a 5-10min walk to Bangla Rd & Jungceylon Shopping Centre. The building is located down a driveway off the Rat-U-Thit Rd so I didn't notice much noise. There is a large pool with pool bar that looked ok. Plenty of families and kids were using it throughout my stay. The lobby was quite large with ample seating. Check-in took a little longer than usual but I wasn't aware of any problems. They have 2 lifts which are quite small and slow.

The rooms are quite reasonable and clean. My room came with the usual TV & Minibar. The room also comes with 2 glass bottles of water (Free). The empty bottles are collected, washed, refilled and recapped each day. If you discard or break the glass bottles, there is a charge.

The power and air conditioning only works when the room key is inserted into the slot. This means you can't use the power to recharge phones/cameras etc unless you are in the room.

The only issue I had with the room is the bathroom. There is a shower above the bathtub and main problem is tiling around the bathtub means any runoff water pools on the bathroom floor. The tiles used on the floor are quite slick making it slippery as ice. I spoke to another guest in the hotel and he had the same problem in his bathroom.

My room came with breakfast included in the price. It was ok. A buffet style with toast, cereal, fresh fruit, bacon, ham, sausage, noodles plus a few more things I can't remember. There is also a cook there to make you an omelette/scrambled eggs on the spot - it was great. Tea & Coffee were fine too but they didn't have any fruit juice - it was more like a cordial and tasted terrible. I think they charge 200-250 baht for breakfast if it's not included in your room price.

Staff seemed friendly but I didn't really talk to them much. The rooms are serviced daily with fresh towels too.

Overall it is a decent place to stay that isn't too expensive if you find deals through hotel websites. I wouldn't pay more than ~$90 USD/night.
It is close to the shops & bars, off the main road so noise is reduced, clean and comfortable.
It is probably a 3-star place by todays standards.

Room Tip: Try and book the room that includes breakfast in the price.

Hotel as decent location, with both shopping mall and Bangla street at a walking distance... but seems to be bit over priced, we have better option across street.
Wifi didn't work and hotel doesn't give feeling of resort.
It does have a nice pool
