“There are better places to stay in Patong Beach”
Reviewed 21 February 2012

I had booked a junior suite in this hotel several months before our visit. When we arrived, around 6 pm, I handed the clerk our passports as usual. he could not find our reservation so I handed him our sheet from Agoda and he still could not find it. The girl working with him finally found it but it took them a long time to come up with a room making us think at first none were available. We were finally given one in the old building on the second floor where we had a constant barrage of the motorcycles and tuk-tuks blasting their music and a nightclub right across from us also with loud music. After having our reservation for 9 months, you would think that they would have given us something in a better location.

The room was very spacious and we had no complaints about it. However, while the bathroomwas huge, it was very poorly designed for anyone in a wheelchair. There was little space between the tub and the door that would have provided no access to a handicapped person.

We later learned the hard way that the afternoon shift at the hotel, the same ones that checked us in, had iq's that would not make double digits combined. I left a wake-up call fo 6:30 am and our phone went off at 3:30 instead and none at the time requested. The second wake-up call we left did not happen at all. Then, one day we got a call to come down to the front desk as they were having trouble scanning and sending a document we had requested be done. We went immediately down and the clerks told us no one called. Even after telling them that no one else could have known what we needed done, they insisted no one from the hotel called us. My wife finally asked them if there was anyone in the office and they looked like a light bulb went off and said "yes, there is someone else working".

The location is good if all you want is the beach as it is only a five minute walk away, like most hotels in Patong. However, if you want to go shopping, enjoy the nightlife, or eat at some of the better places in the city, you have to take a tuk-tuk and they are very expensive here. Most of them will not move an inch for less than $5 to $7 eah way, even if you are only going to go a few blocks. I would higjly recommend getting a hotel in the central part of the beach rather than at the northern end.

Room Tip: Stay as far away from the front of the hotel as possible.

Checked in late in the evening after Fantasea....Booked 2 junior suite rooms...
Rooms were clean and spacious...but suprisingly of different size...one room had a long mirror and bigger living area....while another does not...
One room has a water flooding issue in the shower while another room has a water heater problem...freezing one moment... Boiling hot another... Dont be suprise ;)
40 channels on the TV with mostly being in Thai language and no subtitles... We just tuned to 1 permanent all English movie channel...
Hotel is 10mins walk to the lovely beautiful beach and 20mins walk to the night market....
Free beach towel at recep...
200B tuktuk ride to Hard Rock Cafe which is at the end of the night market..
Breakfast has a variety of food but some of them were the same for 4 days...
Small eating area which could get cramp on busy mornings... Omellette station is outside the cafe...
Free WIFI throughout the hotel which was relatively fast and stable...
Staff were not so friendly as we expect of Thais...English could be a problem so speak slowly...
Overall... Clean hotel....worth for a few days stay....
***did not encountered any creepy crawlies as mentioned in the few past reviews "phew" ***

Room Tip: Get a bigger room for few days stay...

we arrived late at night, for some reasons, we were placed in the Orange hotel which is opposite of the Aspery hotel, but the staff said, it is the same hotel. the room was small, and absolutely nothing like we saw in the picture.

next morning we complained and got upgraded to the NEW building, the room was big, spacious and the breakfast is EXCELLENT!!! although you have to walk 10 metres to the original ASPERY hotel where they serve the breakfast.

the staff is friendly, good and communicate adequate english. You can borrow beach towel for free, I think that's the standard for hotels near the beach. walking distance to main road and Patong Beach. FREE WIFI, FREE use of computer at lobby. many books to read and rooftop pool is a plus, we can sun-tanning in peace.

nearby there's a lot of massage parlors offering REAL thai massage, don't forget to tip them well. food stalls is also plenty, tour service is available almost on every corner of the street, and of course, alcohol is cheap and readily available here in Phuket especially Patong.

Motorbike rentals are easy to find, don't forget your driving license and helmet, the police will fine you for neglecting these things for tourists. don't park your motorcycle anywhere, park at designated place.

We satisfied with Aspery hotel, would like to stay here again.

Room Tip: choose room on the new Building.

My wife and I stayed at the Aspery in Patong after spending nights in Naithon and Kata. The Aspery is about as middle of the road as you can get. The standard rooms were spacious enough, though not as inviting as other rooms we'd stayed in. We didn't communicate with the staff easily but it never presented a problem. The location might be great for some people. It's walkable to the beach, and has a handful of bars and restaurants nearby. However, it's a decent hike to the main part of downtown Patong (which might not be the best place to stay for a lot of people), so be prepared for a tuk tuk or a long hot walk. Don't get excited about the rooftop pool -- it's not as nice in person as in pictures, and doesn't have much of a view. But with the beach so close we weren't bothered by this at all.

Probably the worst aspect of the Aspery is the restaurant downstairs. It is awful. The pad thai I ordered for lunch was nearly inedible, the breakfast is very forgettable, and a few of the servers were downright rude.

I just spent 15 nights at the Aspery and loved it.The staff were the best and always had a smile on their faces and always very helpful. The room we were given was an upgrade and was perfect. The room was cleaned to every detail and always spotless. The location is great a quick little walk to the beach, shopping and as many restaurants you can think of.It is within close walking distance of Bangla Walking Street or a quick tuk tuk ride. The restaurant in the hotel is great they serve some great Thai food and western to.I would like to say thank you to all the staff at the Aspery for making our holiday great and we will see you on our next visit to Thailand.

Rooms Stayed : 2307 & 2308
Type: Standard
Rooms were small but comfortable with spacious bathrooms. Good house keeping, nice quite location.

Best part:
Early check in accommodated
Pool is nice
Hotel provides free beach towels and umbrella
Best place nearest to the beach
Quite a number of free internet terminals
Magazines from a mini library that guests could borrow to their rooms

Drawback: Standard rooms are located in another building so you need to go to the main building for(around 50 mtrs):
Breakfast
Swimming Pool

Dining area/lobby is small
Breakfast was not that great ( I am a vegetarian)

Overall a best value for money deal.

Room Tip: Do not take the Standard rooms, but for budget traveler, they are more than what you can ask for...
