“Great location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2014

For those who want peace and quiet not too far from Patong's nightlife then this is the place.
Set on sweeping headland and only a short tuktuk to centre of Patong.
The resort offers great food and helpful staff the rooms are top rate the only negative would be the cost of laundry but you can take that into patong for a tenth of the price.
I would recommend this hotel as the place to stay in Patong

It is clear that this is a hotel which trying hard to achieve and secure high ratings. Guest experiences are purely subjective and dependent on personal expectations and standards. It is not ok for major building works to be undertaken in reception/ lobby area and for guests to be expected to tolerate heat, dust and paint fumes whilst seated in the area. If this hotel has a genuine desire to achieve positive guest experiences it would not expose guests to these hazards and them randomly ask guests in middle of breakfast if everything is ok with their stay! Patronising and just not good enough on the part of management. To understand the guest experience please show a real and genuine interest in guest welfare.

We experienced the reception staff in the hierarchy of this hotel as being rude, on occasions hostile and disrespectful. This is clearly a training issue and possibly based on staff stereotyping guests and making incorrect assumptions. In the main housekeeping, waiters, bar staff and security made greater efforts.

Breakfast bar omelette station location in the corner generated countless arguments amongst guests who struggled to work out the queuing system,

On a positive note this hotel is clean, beautiful ocean views and quiet location.

If you have a disability or mobility issues this hotel is not accessible and navigating around the hotel takes longer and is hampered by poor signage

We absolutely loved Amari! Everything about our stay was perfect! Firstly, the location is fantastic. It's still close enough to walk into Patong Town, Yet far enough to feel completely away from all the hustle & bustle. We stayed in the deluxe ocean view room and couldn't be happier with our choice. All the staff are extremely welcoming and do everything to ensure you have a great stay. Food at both restaurants is above average standard and the setting is just beautiful! There is nothing that we could really fault about our stay at Amari, we enjoyed it a lot and will definitely be back next time!

Room Tip: We had an ocean view room so every morning we stepped out on the balcony to hear the sound of waves...

We checked into this hotel on 24th August. The location is at the southern end of patong beach. Its a massive property with beautiful views. What did dampen our stay was the lack of customer service; starting from the reception. I do not want to name the staff but when we checked in this lady took our passports and started the process of checking us in...then we told her we would be paying in cash for our stay; at that point she started demanding the amount right away; we were taken aback because as a five star hotel the reception needs to understand that we didn't waltz in from the streets....but booked it knowing well that we can afford to pay for it; so they need to stop treating guests like a bunch of thieves. We were already jet lagged from our long flight from LA and in no mood to put up with this lady's attitude; so we told her that we would exchange our money to local currency and pay the amount; this still did not do it for her and then we just put up a deposit for 200 dollars before she would even assign us a room. Finally she takes us for a long walk; when we reached our room it was wet....the walls, the floor everything, the sheets. After what she put us through we were in no mood to get a room like this; we refused to stay here and after a couple of calls; she told us that the manager had assigned another room; this was at the other end of the wing; this room seemed fine, although she made it sound like she was doing us a favour by assigning us such a good room...all rooms in this hotel have ocean views so nothing out of the ordinary. The rooms in this hotel are spread out and its quite a uphill walk to the reception area....we had instances when our room key did not work and we had to constantly go to the reception area to have this activated; it was sheer torture. When we would get to our room we would pray the key works. Another rip-off which the hotel turns a blind eye to is the tuk-tuk that the guests use to get to Bangla or Jungceylon mall. These tuk-tuks charge you 200 Baht per way; and the concierge arranges this for you. I know this is a rip off because when we enquired with the other tuk-tuk's they charge the same amount to take you from the Patong beach area to the Tiger sanctuary--for those of you who have visited the sanctuary would know that it is a long drive. In comparison to pay 200 baht per way from bangla road to the hotel is nothing but daylight robbery and for a 5* hotel to arrange and encourage such service is a sham. As a 5* hotel they should have dedicated shuttle or tuk tuk service provided complimentary to guests; If you are someone who likes to party and stay out late this hotel is definitely not for you...be prepared to be ripped off for a drive back to the hotel. I would definitely not stay here again.

Room Tip: All rooms have ocean views.

Dear Benedita,

I would firstly like to apologise for the less than satisfactory experience you had on your recent stay with us.

Customer satisfaction is one of utmost priorities at Amari Phuket and something we take great pride in working with team members to always strive to deliver the best experience possible to all our guests. As you can see from all the other recent reviews, this is not typical of the experience other guests have had at our property.

The points you raised about the check in process which requires credit card guarantee or cash deposit is a standard practice across hotel industry. However, please accept our sincere apology about the room condition and the room key which has been addressed immediately. The transfer services you used outside our property are beyond our control as the service do not belong to the property.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us and hope that you will give Amari Phuket a second chance to make a whole new first impression. We look forward to welcoming you back and extend to you the standards of excellence you have come to expect from Amari Phuket.

We stayed at the Amari for four nights which was a mistake, we should have stayed for the full week. Excellent service, excellent food, staff very helpful. We had been going to Bali this last few years as if was closer to Perth but this resort is well worth the visit.
If you want five star service and value for money go to the Amari Resort.
We will be back again

Room Tip: If you are older and not able to climb steps ask for a room with less climbing

Staying at Amari right now. Renovation in reception area is smelly. Our room the deluxe Ocean view is nice and Cosy. Yes we can really view the Ocean and. Verandah is a nice place to enjoy Ocean and greenery of Palm trees. A small fan would help beat the humidity white we spend time in the Verandah..

They have 2 Pools and one is a couple of minutes from the room. We need to walk several steps to reach reception though the hotel does provide a shuttle on request.

Breakfast layout was amazing. Look forward to it again today.

The market is 5 minutes by TUK TUK [ 200 THB fixed rate ]. Several Indian food joints so a life saver for us. .

The best thing we enjoyed was the spa - Breeze. The location in the middle of mini forest and facing the ocean was fantastic.

Some knick knacs in the room to be looked into by the management.

Never seen a tea maker without a power point. We need to pick up the tea maker and take beside the bed to use it. Same for working table. No Power point.

Overall rating - Good

Room Tip: Deluxe Ocean View is a nice room.
